How do you guys get wives? Almost everyone I know personally is either a single or has a string of short relationships.

I met mine on Ibiza - which is a Spanish "party" island - in a sports club - she had already met up with 2 other Flemish girls when one of them spotted my beach towel which clearly advertized a local magazine. As it's always a pleasure being able to speak your own lingo when abroad we all got talking. Back home one birthday party later we hooked up. That was 20 years ago or so. From the start she was very much into gaming - we played Doom co-op and even light wargames like Battle Cry, later she became a very heavy Euro gamer and we have a weekly boardgame group evening.

We both had had some semi-long relationships before so I guess it's just plain luck that we met, that it clicked and that it continued to work. I've got 2 friends who after a divorce met other women through *paying* dating services - the paying part being important because it filters out the losers and those just looking for a fling.

After years participating in your cycling, hiking, chess, [ fill in the blank ] club a woman you have known for years will show a wonderful smile. You will wonder "how come I never noticed that before" as your heart melts !

-

That is actually what happened to me. Someone who had been STRICTLY a friend years smiled so brightly one day that my heart did melt.

Thank-you planner 3 [:)]

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. I know that Horatio Nelson [&o] originally wanted the word confides - but this was, with his permission - changed for expects as confides would have to be spelt out letter by letter. Is that what you are referring to?

Last night as I was driving North from Singapore up to Bangkok in "Storm over the Pacific" my wife, who was sleeping beside me, woke up, looked at me moving my infantry up in tandom with carrier strikes, told me that's a boring game and went back to sleep.

We wargamers are a weird bunch, there is no denying that. [:D]

Warspite: Nelson hoisted the "Zebra" pennant (signal flag) which meant " England expects every man.........etc." from his flagship as the conflict at Trafalgar commenced. Hence the quotation.

Just trivia info. [:)][8D]
