MM Question: How to generate trees on narrow wood strips

Post by sztartur2 »

Gentlemen,

I have the following problem. I would not like to place trees near roads one by one. therefore I define a woods terrain strip near them and auto-generate trees. the problem is that long and narrow strips (10-15 pixels) are getting populated very scarcely or not at all.

Does anybody have any clue how to solve this? Any idea is most welcome!

There are a couple of things yhou can try.

1. In the MM settings, there is a check box "C" for conforms to color, make sure this is NOT checked. if it is checked the trees will not be placed unless ALL of the branches fit within the color. also, you can try reducing the min delta.

2. If that doesn't give you enough, try making this strip it's own unique color, then increase the density just for that color until you get what you want. You can still map that color to woods in the lower part of the MM scrren.

Thanks

That's exactly why I put the trees along roads on the map by hand. That and each time you save the autogen redoes the structures it puts on the map. They don't necessarily stay in the same places there were. Even if you move them around by hand in the SceneEditor.

Great, glad that worked for you. We are also looking at the problem with the flipping structure to see if we can sort that out.

Thanks!

Are you able to reproduce it?
