fav way to attack hardpoint

Post by billd »

Hi guys,

I've been doing an Market Garden style attack recently against hard-points and it's good fun.

If I come up against a strongly defended city (for example) with strong surrounding hexes I'll (1) drop para's behind strong hex (ideally, on a good defensive hex which is also on their supply line) then (2) I puncture defensive line with armored formations on either side of the strong hexes to create pincer/encirclement when they meet up with para's. Basically you just completely ignore their strong defenses and encircle/starve them out.

Good times!

Just hope you don't encounter any intercepters or strong FlaK as that could ruin your para's day.

You do send a recon up in advance, to draw the enemy fighter's into a dogfight?

You'll need to scout the hex(s) that you want to drop para's on each turn to make sure you don't drop para's onto something nasty e.g. elite halftrack infantry with MG's! This scouting will let you know how many fighters enemy has so you know how many fighters you'll need to defend drops. I have lost 80 para's and 2 transports to enemy fighters before I started scouting :( So i scout now.

I'm trying to use all the different units in the game and this is a fun way I found to use para's.

cheers
