Slitherine's Server Traffic Tripled Over Last Quarter

First came the release of the PBEM++ multiplayer system. Wargamers around the world and media outlets praised the server-based match-making tool as being one of the best innovations in strategy gaming. It started with Field of Glory and was then moved to other successful games, such as BBC Battlefield Academy and Gary Grigsby's War in the East. The PBEM++ multiplayer system allows players to find opponent from within the game's user interface and exchange turns in a simple and intuitive way, without involving any upload of files and complicated procedures.

Over 4,000 games are now live at any time on the Slitherine servers and the numbers increased dramatically with the release of Panzer Corps.

The award winning World War II wargame released on the 11th of July, and immediately conquered the hearts of old school players and newcomers alike. Since its release, the game has generated 250,000 multiplayer games and 5 million turns in total. The traffic in Slitherine's servers supporting the multiplayer system has more the tripled over the months of June and July and the number of unique players has literally increased by thousands.

After a careful evaluation and a number of stress tests carried out by the server technicians, Slitherine has decided to upgrade the whole system at the end of August in order to face the increasing traffic and offer players around the world the best possible gaming experience before we hit the Christmas season when many of our new titles will be released. This will of course result in a faster and better gaming experience.

As a result of this change, the Slitherine servers will be closed for maintenance and upgrades on the 24th August at 8am CET, for 5 hours till 1pm CET making the PBEM++ multiplayer system and all other web services unavailable during that time.

Slitherine and Matrix Games are constantly investing in improvements to their infrastructure, in order to support our growing community and to make their wargaming experience as smooth and clean as possible no matter where in the world they are based.
