I was offered a second part time temporary IT job at a local college. I am checking it out. Still may book for the east coast in a month. Trying to decide. Not easy.

I was turned down for an interview to become a PT bus driver for Seattle. Apparantly there are "more qualified" candidents to drive a bus than me.
wow.

Not the point, Steve.

Don't forget , even the B-17 was seen as "over priced" as we could get two B-18 Digbys for the same price! [:D]

But isn't the B-18 a better plane? I mean, the number is higher and all....[:D]

BTW Nik, thats pretty shitty about the bus gig. Thinkin about ya man.

They all say it can become permanent. Bellevue College gave me the typical spiel about how many start off as temp PT and if they "prove themselves" they might get a full time gig. Its all a crap shoot. hell...they couldn't even tell me how long the job lasts because their regular IT guy is on Leave....and they don't know when or if he/she is coming back. I was supposed to be leaving for Boston next week but i've put it off..... John Lennon was "The Walrus" I'm his third cousin......."I am the Waffle"

coo coo ca choo.

Hi all,

[:(]
Test of hypersonic aircraft fails over Pacific Ocean

By LA Times USA

A test flight of an experimental aircraft capable of speeding through air at 20 times the speed of sound ended prematurely Thursday morning when the arrowhead-shaped plane failed and stopped sending back real-time data to engineers and scientists who were moderating the mission.

In the test flight, the aircraft, known as the Falcon Hypersonic Technology Vehicle 2, was launched at 7:45 a.m. from Vandenberg Air Force Base, located northwest of Santa Barbara, into the upper reaches of Earth's HTV2 atmosphere aboard an eight-story Minotaur IV rocket, made by Orbital Sciences Corp.

After reaching an undisclosed sub-orbital altitude, the aircraft jettisoned from its protective cover atop the rocket, then nose-dived back toward Earth, leveled out and was supposed to glide above the Pacific at 20 times the speed of sound, or Mach 20.

The plan was for the Falcon to speed westward for 30 minutes before plunging into the ocean near Kwajalein Atoll, about 4,000 miles from Vandenberg.

But about 20 minutes into the mission, the Pentagon’s research arm, known as Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, or DARPA, announced on its Twitter account that: “Range assets have lost telemetry.”

It sounds eerily similar to the problems that plagued the Falcon’s first flight, which took place in April 2010. That test flight ended prematurely with only nine minutes of flight time. Engineers went back to the drawing board and were believed to have had things ironed out.

If you have visions of this thing headed back to your house, DARPA sent out another tweet with the reassurance that the Falcon "has an autonomous flight termination capability," which likely means it ditched itself into the Pacific.

The F-22 and the F-35 are both white elephants, just like the Osprey and Comanche.

As was the M-16 rifle, the M-1 tank, the B-29,the Harrier, the helicopter and damn near ANY new device that is either totally new technology or pushing the boundries. We should have stay safe with "The Brown Bess" musket or a cross bow. "Everybody knows" ....."that'll never fly", "work", "space is a waste"...., and of course the big one "why waste the money on something new?". Geeze Kristian....I thought I was supposed to be the geezer around here.[:(][X(]

I agree with you, Steve. I remember a number of "expose" types of news reports when the Bradley fighting vehicle came out. It was a freakin' fire trap-totally unreliable and totally not ready for prime time. Then Desert Storm I came and lo and behold! The Bradleys performed admirably in a most inhospitable environment.

The Osprey has been serving well for a few years now too and the F-22 is a game-changer, needed to up the ante against the latest Russian designs and their Chinese copies.

Regional park just south of the Twin Cities. Nice little campground-we got an awesome spot and the place was practically deserted. In the middle of Summer? WTF? [&:]

Tithe...

Dixie finishes nights today so I might get a turn! I can hardly wait. I think I know what I need to do with regard to early expansion/production etc and have a couple of mistakes to sort out. Sinking some more of his ships as well would be nice...

Carl, why can't you use "ImageShack" for example?

It's free and I never had problem with them (I host all my WitE developers pictures there when I need to post several pictures in one post - Matrix forum only allows 1 picture per post even in developer's forum)...
