More Windows 7 Woes

Post by dettel »

I'm playing the Road to Moscow scenario as the Russians - the program consistently hangs (Windows dialog box saying the program in not responding). The attached file is the save game; the Russians are done with their first turn and now it is the computers turn as the Germans - just press F12. The computer works through most of its stuff and is doing various bombing and photo recon missions when it hangs.

I hope this info helps you debug problems with Windows 7. The program also hangs when I've done multiple things in the Info screens and then get back to playing (moving and combat). In those cases I just go back to my last saved file and restart the game and continue with no problems. In the case above it consistenly hangs and I cannot continue the game.

System info:
- Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1, 64 bit
- Pentium Dual-Core E5300 2.60 GHz 2.60 GHz
- 4.00 GB memory
- DirectX 11

I was able to replicate the crash. This seem to be an AI routine bug in small scenarios. This is not related to the Win7. Will pass it to Gary. Thanks for the report.

This "program not responding" appears in my game as well.
I`m Soviet in 1942-5 scenario.

The "fix" is to run the program with "Compatibility (as selected in the shortcut) mode" set for XP or Vista or Win 7. No more annoying "not responding" messages-although the game does resume afer 20-30 secs.

This is different issue. The problem OP reported is fixed in the AI code and not related to Win7.
