Empires in Arms is the computer version of Australian Design Group classic board game. Empires in Arms is a seven player game of grand strategy set during the Napoleonic period of 1805-1815. The unit scale is corps level with full diplomatic options

Hey guys:

Yes, I am in a thousand different directions and many are away from this game. That's a part of my life that is out of my control for the moment. BUT EiANW is not going away. We've just completed a new test image and it is with the testers as we speak. I hope we can have a new BETA image over the next week or so!

What I will apologize for is me installing simul diplomacy! This has sidetracked the whole project to the point that perhaps the next few releases will be focused on fixing what simul diplomacy broke and it looks like this adds little to the speed of the game. I broke a cardinal rule in this project's design which is to stick with the original design.

Bottom-line: I'm not leaving this thing (I LOVE it TOO MUCH). We're coming up in the four year point of a project that was designed for WIN98SE. We've dealt with the releases of XP, VISTA and WIN7. You guys have really hung in there because I know that I'm not filling many timelines in a satisfactory manner but you're still with us and I thank you for that!
Thank you

Players should still see faster pbem games with v1.08.06 because most (not quite all) lingering pbem issues have been resolved, and for those glitches that may still occur hosts can now use the updated admin menu to edit most (not quite all) things themselves. This is still a significant improvement to the game, despite the long delays. Players can spend more time playing, and Marshall can spend more time (when he has it!) making it better.

Bottom line: The game should pick up following this patch's release. Let's hope more players (old and new) get into the game again and get some constructive forum discussions/debates going about continued improvements/enhancements. [8D]

Hi all
I heard from Marshall, and it looks like the next 1.08.06 BETA has been sent to Matrix for posting. Given their record, it might be a month before it is on the members page, assuming they are not on vacation. End of August or sometime in September?

I pm'd Andrew with a polite request to get v1.08.06 out.  It much improves the game and the sooner players can start using it the better.  Keeping fingers crossed... [:)]

Don't aplogise for sim dip- in the game I'm in we did the dip turn in one 24 hour period with players from Australia to Arizona (USA).

And just used the admin tools to fix some bugs (they are not great but good enough given the game is moving). Now feel free to apologise for the succession of bugs [:'(]

Honestly, thank you Marshall for making the game. Only EiA is worth all the difficulties. In a way, the PBM feels a little like playing in real time. We'll just keep plugging along until it's perfect(or a reasonable facsimile)
