I'm not sure i understand your question. There was no combat in Sicily prior to the summer of 1943, when the Allies invaded after removing the Axis from North Africa.

What I mean is why isn't this the scenario before the Gustav line scenario in the 1939 campaign?

I never looked at the scenario tree as I consider that a spoiler, but perhaps there is a decisive or marginal victory path that omits the scenario in certain occassions?

Maybe. I'm not at home so I can't check it. I've never encounterd the Husky scenario, of course I don't always score decisive victories either [:)]

I checked and I think this is it.

How do you get there in the 1939 campaign?

Yes, it's "Italy". Don't land too many troops there; use air and navy, then mop up.
