large scenarios

Post by rgflores »

Just curious for people who like to play large and complex scenarios.
How do you manage an army, let´s say, with 500 or even more unities?
Thanks.[:)]

Not sure how complicated an answer you are looking for, but to start I would say treat the monster as if it were many smaller scenarios that are connected.

When first starting a scenario, a unit is highlighted (usually the first unit in the order of battle). Keep hitting 'N' on the keyboard and you will be scrolling around the map with different units. This will take some time but eventually you will be familiar with units and locations, and then you can form some smaller operational areas in your mind (or with the help of graphics programs or word/notepad). As you progress thru turns you will arrive at a sequence of operations that you are comfortable with (i.e., disembark, repair rail, check reinforcements, sift thru air units, move ground units, etc.).

And don't neglect to read the boring scenario briefing and any attached document. Make note of items that seem to be important so you won't have to fumble thru finding them again later.

Cheers !

It works similar to other wargames like Steel Panthers. That´s the kind of response that I was looking for. For a while it´s better to play scenarios like Tannenberg, Kasserine 43 or eventually Korea 50.
