Suitable for single play?

Post by moose1999 »

Is the AI in EiA good enough to give me a good single player experience?
Or is this game primarily designed to be played by PBEM?

Yes and no for the AI, and it is designed for all modes of play. If you are an experienced EiA boardgame player you'll probably be disappointed with the AI right off the bat. If you're a newbie just getting started, the AI will provide enough challenge while you learn the game mechanics and rotate through playing the seven Major Powers with their different abilities.

Marshall Ellis intends to work on AI improvements over the next few months for the next patch. There are enough relatively simple known AI weaknesses that when corrected should provide more challenging gameplay. The goal for v1.09 is to get the AI to be less stupid. Future iterations can work on getting it smarter. At least smart enough to provide an enjoyable game experience. [;)]

The best way to look at it is learning the game vs the AI, then playing for real in a PBEM. Empires in Arms itself is one of the greatest games ever. [&o]
We are all working together to make this computer version just as awesome.....it's just not there yet. But EiA is one of the few games worth the struggle.
