1.08.06 feedback

Post by Dancing Bear »

Hi all

has anyone found any bugs with the 1.08.06 release before it is finalized? Are there any one or two items that are missing in the release that we should get Marshall to fix? Preferably relatively simple items that don't require complex coding.

In our game (updated to 1.08.05 beta) we cannot send money to allies.

I'm curious to see if it is solved by this new patch.

Good question. I know Marshall is waiting a few more days for some feedback on the BETA, but then the plan is to release a slighly updated 1.08.06 as a stand alone version 1.08.07 (i.e. no complex upgrade pathway). Not sure how long it will take Matrix to do this.

If Matrix will complete a stand-alone patch that would be great. This latest version still has issues to get worked out eventually but most of the pbem issues are resolved. The sooner it becomes official, the sooner players can get back into the game. Including many who shelved the game a couple years ago; hopefully word of mouth will bring players back into forum discussions and attract new players. [:)]

Any bug reasons not to install this for PBEM?

I believe all the bugs introduced with v1.08.05 are resolved and the public beta out there is pretty stable now. Particularly for pbem, which has been the focus. If your playgroup is willing then I'd say go ahead and install it. Let us know how it goes.

Marshall has made one minor adjustment for a v1.08.07 version and plans to look at a couple more things this weekend before sending that image to Matrix for official release. Also Matrix is trying to use this to develop a stand-alone update (ie, now more interim version installs). Maybe next week, maybe week after? Soon.

We need to get stability, back into it again, and asap
I am having turns skip by the GM cause out of sync errors now, so it effectivaley curtails the GMs power to move the game along.
along with Political turns and land turns that cant be skipped, I had to bring in penalising money for late returns

Hi Gaz
are you playing with 1.08.06? If so, can you be more specific?

It doesnt matter the version DB, we need to have this virtually bug free now, GM editing is good but it is still limited.
Its only PC savey guys like myself and David and one or 2 others in TGHQ, thats kept PBEM Games like ours going for 4 years now. I am trying to get a growing community of Strategy Gamers going here but its hard because not so many are as hardy as ourseves at getting games through, to completion.

We had to resort to using a Beta 1.08.05 version to keep things going.

It would be nice for things to get easier and go done the otherside of the hill with this now, I think its high time.

Marshall has prepared a 1,08.07 release that has one additional outstanding fix to the current 1.08.06 BETA, and has asked Matrix to post it as a BETA. Having played around with it quite a bit, my recommendation is that everyone use the 1.08.07 BETA when it comes out. It should have a fix for many of the problems you are talking about.

I'd like to echo what DB said. This release should provide the pbem stability folks are looking for to get back into the game. Just waiting on Matrix to post it now.
