Most Decisive Air Battle?

Post by OG_Gleep »

Allies:
1 x F4F Wildcat Destroyed
1 x F4F Wildcat Damaged

Japanese

6 x Zero Destroyed
33 x Val Destroyed
9 x Val Damaged
14 x Kate Destroyed
3 x Kate Damaged

Total - 53 Destroyed, 12 Damaged vs 1 Destroyed, 1 Damaged

I narrowly missed disaster as two IJN Carrier groups came down Gilli while I was moving mine up to support resupply/reinfocements there. Thank god their big CV TF Air missions got cancled due to weather, and I ended up trashing thier single CV TF with mine. I threw the Cruiser TF that you start with at them to distract them and moved my TF up to PM to get some extra cover and hopefully bait them into an attack. I lost all 3 cruisers in exchange for a solid air victory. I don't think I had to sacrifice the cruisers, but I wanted them to actually attack them by air instead of my CVs. I didn't know how badly I had hurt the small CV task force, so I was facing two possible strikes.

I set ALL fighter - bombers to provide LRCAP and they ran into over 70 planes. They sent over 70 bombers and none made it to the target. They only sent a handful of zeros as cover oddly enough.

Oh man that was fun, even though it was the AI. It was my first major victory!

The Enterprise and company JUST arrived the next turn. Offensive time!

Hope that was against the AI. I would have shot my computer if I was your opponent.
