Super Sized Soviets?

Post by Michael T »

In my current server game 1.04.36 as German I am seeing a lot of Soviet units that appear super sized. From the battle report screens I am seeing ID's with 17K-19K men, even a NKVD Reg with 11K men!

I haven't seen this previously so is it WAD?

We are at turn 11. Not that I am complaining as these units just serve to fill up my POW camps. I can get a screen shot if needed. But if its the norm then no problem. Just I haven't seen it before.

But if it is WAD is it really realistic to see NKVD with 11K men or even these large Soviet ID's?

Probably, what I presume has happened is built fresh divs from brigades or merged divs/brigades. They will initially be high but will reduce in time down to their operating TOE's

Do you play AI?

Huge units can appear just after the merge. They should send back all the excess on next logistics.

No this is Human v Human. Ok merging makes sense. Thanks. My opponent must be doing a lot of this then.

Question though. If I isolate a over sized unit does that mean it will remain over sized until it is back in supply? Or will it reduce back down even if cut off from supply?

I think your opponent is one of those players who "optimize" a bit too much :)

Yes it will remain oversized. But isolation should greatly reduce the potential of such unit. As with size also increase the need and shortage reductions.

Thanks Pavel. My POW camps are bulging because of this ploy. I have over 2 million POW's at turn 11 :) out of a total loss of 2.8 million.
