These were different BBs....these are part of the KB...the CVs must be somewhere else but as far as i know the Kongo has always stayed with the KB so far....
The group that we meant to engage was at Rabaul but not hancored...

Anyway, i've ordered my Eastern Army to move back. If he has moved back to India all (or a good part) of his crack armies that were bound in the pacific, i cannot hope to break the Multan line untill i am able to get the air superiority back over Karachi.
So i still need time...and in the meanwhile i hope to keep on pushing in the Solomons...slowly my air power is encreasing...i'm now able to put inline 1000 fighters, most of them pretty modern ones, with TOP pilots flyin them....and the numbers of Hellcats and Corsairs are encreasing every day.
The today victory over Rabaul, as said, could really be pushing back his gravity center....
....however now i need to locate back the KB...where the hell are they gone!?

And, you very well could have sunk some BBs. That many multiple bomb hits may have put enough sys damage on one or more of them that the heavy fires will burn out of control. It happened to me with one of my American BBs at Noumea. A KB raid did not touch her flotation at all but she burned up right at the dock.
I know Rader is a good player but he just broke AE rule #1 for any Japanese player. Never, never leave valuable ships in a port that can be reached by American heavies. Frankly, I can't believe he messed up like that. Another reason why I like forcing a fight in the Solomons. Just like in the real deal, the Japanese navy is forced to operate from Truk and other distant bases. It is a big handicap.

Far from being beaten in the Solomons, Rader's reaction was massive and concentrated.
The intent is clearly to gain back the controll of the skies over Tassa/Lunga/Tulagi (from now on TLT).
To achieve that Rader sent 400 fighters (Georges, Tojos and A6M5s) to sweep Lunga (the base from where our 4Es took off yesterday), followed by 200 OscarsII escorting 250 Helens.
Unfortunately for him i had already moved back all my fighters to re-group and organize at Ndeni, so his "hammer" found nothing to crush. The damage inflicted to the base was neglegtable, probably due to the high fort level (7) and the jungle terrain, and none of my 4Es that were left back at Lunga repairing was torched on the ground.
Instead, 9 Kates, escorted by 36 Georges tried to target my shippings at Ndeni. They were intercepted by 200 allied fighters that litterarly butchered the aggressors (losing only 3 wildcats against his 30 Georges and 8 Kates).
At the same time two bombardment TFs (4 CAs, 3 CLs and 12 DDs) bombed again the beaches at Tulagi....again with no enemy casualities reported (...and yes, i had 3 kingfishers groups on recon duties)[&:].
He still has nails and fangs to hurt me. I must not become complacent....he can ruin my day if i don't keep on cat&mouse (ing) with my air force.
Yes, because the match for the controll of the skies over TLT has become a game of ambushes and tricks....none of us is able to guarantee a complete and costant controll over TLT, so both of us are running this cat&mouse game where, for the moment, i'm still playing the role of the mouse.
But this is slowly changing....my air force is becoming every day stronger and more efficient. The first unit composed of 25 prototypes of P-47s is being moving to the front, while the number of corsairs and hellcats is encreasing every day, substituting the old Wildcats that soon will be relegated to secondary fronts units.
Another USMC Division is ready to be assembled and, with the news coming from India, during the upcoming summer i could be switching into a strategic view that goes beyond the simple process of holding TLT.
CRsutton...i pray for that but i won't count on the sinking of those 2 BBs....however it's clearly a good thing to know that those 2 dreaded ships will be out of the equations for some months to come, along with the CV Kaga.

hi GreyJoy, 'grats on your Rabaul Raid, a famous victory, those 2 BB are gone for months, & none of those CLs, DDs & Marus are happy at all. i was a bit surprised to see you get such good results, despite his CAP. you didn't lose any planes, but usually a strong CAP will throw the 4Es off-target.
take good care of those 4E sqns, hide them & let them repair planes, fatigue & morale. They've proved their worth, so don't be running them into the ground w/ continuous attacks. for my money, all those damaged Marus are worth more to you as damaged rather than sunk - they'll be a continuous headache to Rader as he withdraws them, & they'll clog his repair yards nicely. If your subs are in position to threaten them, that'll only add to his migraine.
wrt the Bomb TFs, did you have their recce planes targeted to Tulagi, or were they set to 'commander choice'? i've found i must target them to the TF target (at appropriate day/night setting) to have even a chance of getting their spotting aid. bad weather in the hex will usually prevent them from flying. what range are you shelling from? do you allow escorts to bombard? even when you start getting hits, it'll take weeks of work to get an appreciable effect. but doing anything regularly just invites Rader to anticipate & counter.

The fact that Rader has abbandoned the idea of using those divisions for a counter landing at TLT is already a victory, imho.
He has been shipping those divisions up and down from India to SOPAC and to India back again, thus burning fuel and time.
I don't wanna fight an equal force at Multan without the air cover, with the risk of being defeated and to open again the door to Hyderabad to his fast-moving units.
I'll move back to Hyderabad and i'll wait till i'll be able to get the controll of the sky over Karachi back into my hands. As soon as Karachi airfields will be more or less safe again, i'll move in my air force and i'll transport the India counter invasion army there. When, slowly but steady, my 4Es will be able to fly again and to hit Multan, i'll move back there with 10k AVs and will start to steamroll...sooner or later he will have to retreat...

Those 4Es are already in a safe base. And yes, they aren't normal crews....those are all veterans of the Indian air campaign, with exellent experience, Gbomb skills and wonderful leaders...and their number is growing. Soon i'll be able to have 150 crack 4Es available in the Solomons...
And yes, i had my float planes reconning Tulagi...don't know what happened there but, i don't care much about bombing those units...now that i know he won't counterinvade i can easily let them rot there...i won't give Rader a "routine" easy to counter and ambush.
Kepp on moving. Keep on changing. CAP, naval positions, naval targets, balances of forces...i have to keep on moving...

My subs aren't finding targets anymore...Rader must have understood my patrol zones south of Truk and is clearly avoiding them. Need to change the positions...
I'm also moving 10 more subs in the sea of Japan south of Tokyo and Hiroshima...let's see what i can find there...
My 20 subs in the bay of Bengal aren't spotting a single damned ship....Rader must be using very strange routes....[:o] Keep on looking for them btw

To be honest that is not a very powerful bombardment TF. What range did you set them to bombard and escorts to bombard or not ? Also check their ammo level - if its not nearly full they will do a few shots and then pull back. If their ammo is too low they will not even fire.
I never do bombardments unless I have at least 1 BB in the TF. If those enemy troops have been there several months then they have lvl 4+ forts and a 'light' bombardment won't hurt them.
