Query: Is there a quick way to locate the "mission target"/"objective" of a ship?

Post by Kprof »

Query:
Is there a quick way to locate the "mission target"/"objective" of a ship? (i.e. selecting the target location of a mission)?

Example:
If you have an Exploration ship with a mission to explore "Planet Tasmania".
You can quickly select/locate/etc the ship itself and go directly to it if needed.
Is there a way to quickly select/identify/go to/etc the mission target, in this case "Planet Tasmania"?

Currently I remember the name, trawl/search through the relevant object lists to find a match, then use that to select it and jump to the location. I suspect that there my be a better way that I'm missing!

It would also be nice to be able to toggle displaying mission objective indicators on the various displays and maps, (possibly as a line going from the ship/fleet/etc to the destination).

Cheers!

Hi Kprof and welcome to the forum. The same was requested by many of us in the form of a pointer at least, to help you narrow down the destination. But there are many other more convenient ways to achieve this; atm we all do as you do [:)]
Put your request on the wishlist, one more vote will go a long way to obtaining this as the wishlist is reviewed by Elliot (the developer behind the game).

This part can be done easily, as long as you have RotS. There is a Exploration Ship button on the left. With that clicked you will see all your Exploration Ships and their missions. If you click the ship in the list, it is selected in your box below. Click that goes to the location of the ship.

Correct but if the ship is not at the actual destination / target you still need to check the direction in which it's going and search for it's targtet along that path. While not good from a gameplay point of view I like it for the lost feeling it gives in an already huge universe....maybe I'm masochistic?  [:)]

ORIGINAL QUOTE FROM DATA: maybe I'm masochistic? lol.

Seriously though, the only way I know of finding a planet is in the Expansion Planner or your empire planet list. There you can Select/Go To. Other targets, meh. [8|]
