basic squad is IIRC, roughly 10 men in abstracted size. "Non-Combat" means support troop losses. "Combat" losses cover squad types that do the actual shooting...such as rifle squads, MG squads, tank crews etc. Support troop designations cover the spectrum of non gun toting troopage. contruction engineer/AV squads....various "support" type squads (naval/motorized etc)

Right. The math won't always match exactly but roughly, 1 squad destroyed or disabled will be calculated as 10 'casualties' So 4 squads destroyed or disabled would read 40 casualties.....or 2 squads destroyed/2 squads disabled would also read as '40' casualties.

ok great, so disabled are also not in combat? So when it says 20 casualties with 3 squads are 60 men? If this is right i understand it.

no. a squad can be either destroyed or disabled. Whether it is Combat or Non-combat, it will be added to the "casualties" total. So if you have 1 combat squad disabled....and one non combat squad destroyed....the total casualties reported would be "20" (2 x squads)

So i've got to look at the squad and when there are 3 squads destroyed or disabled with 2 men casualtie it are 6 men out of action?
If not what i'm doing wrong mathematics wich i have was very good.

So the casualties is what came out of the squads so it is mentioned as casualties, that role out of it, i dont know how i say it in English.

right. any squads that are destroyed or disabled will be added to the "Casualties" summary with each sqad = 10 men. So 5 squads (any type) destroyed or disabled for example will show as "50 Casualties"

Thats the simple example. Other devices like 'vehicles' and 'guns' will also generate x numbers of casualties....like when a tank unit losses tanks (disabled or destroyed) you'll see the # disabled or destroyed and there will be a number of "casualties" listed.

Easiest way to judge situation is by ignoring the "casualties" and just focus on the # of squads destroyed/disabled.

with vehicles like tanks, ignore the casualties....best info is in the details, the number destroyed and/or disabled. Vehicles and Guns always get their own count in the details list right under the combat and non-combat squad losses.

The way I understand it, it really is just graphical fluff anyway. The number of 'men' is irrelevant, the number of actual squads disabled or destroyed is what matters.

i agree w/ Shark7 - the # of casualties doesn't matter. the game-engine could decide that those 30 'casualties' result in 3 squads destroyed, 30 non-combat (squads) disabled, or a mixture of the 2.

<edit> also, 'support' squads in AE are 15 men.
