Overstrengthening units

Hi all, am I mistaken, or does it cost more prestige to overstrengthen or restore units during the scenario compared to after the scenario is complete?

Yes, you are correct. I believe it is half the cost if you reinforce your units in the setup phase of the following battle. So towards the end of a battle, you probably want to keep your low strength units out of the way and just wait until next battle to reinforce them.

I don't know if this is the same for upgrading a unit or not, as i never upgrade during a battle. Anyone know the answer to this?

Upgrade during battle does not carry extra cost or a discount, except for the 'in family' upgrade paths.
Prestige differences are only present in the deployment phase, where regular replacements are free and elite replacements are cheaper.
