Basic Command Query

Post by pcelt »

Many years ago I played HTTR and have just returned to d/l Battles from the Bulge.
I am sure I should know this but cannot initially find a ref to it and its frustrating me------------in a Div battle if you initially give orders to all the battalions individually will they then ignore any future order to their Brigade headquarters?----and if they do how do you bring them back under Brigade command if you wish it.
Sorry Im sure this is a basic concept clarified somewhere but I just cannot locate it----please clarify for me if you can.
Many Thanks

Yes, they will ignore it. Giving an explicit order to a Bn HQ will detach that battalion from its superior, so any subsequent order to that ex-superior will only had effect on its remaining subordinates.
----and if they do how do you bring them back under Brigade command if you wish it.

You have to reattach the battalion to the brigade HQ.

You need to select them both and issue a new order.

So, you can for example do it in the following way:

1. Press CRTL (for multiple selection)
2. Select the Brigade HQ
3. Select the detached Battalion HQ
4. Issue some order

It also works just setting 'reattach' (the BIG button). The attached troops may not be immediately incorporated into the current task, but will be once the HQ is given a new order, or otherwise chooses/is forced to replan or reorganise.
