wich tool are you using ?

Post by olivier34 »

I would like to do some screenshot of my entire front for my AAR (like CarnageInc for exemple). What sofware are you using ? So far, I am using screenhunter 5 and paint to build my AAR. Something better that I should know about?
thanks

I don't think you can use layers in paint can you?
You could use a free program like Paint.net which would do the job.
If you want something slightly better I'd recommend Paint Shop Pro.

Howdy olivier34, I suppose I can let you know how I do my entire front screens.....[:'(]

First off I use paint for screen capture and Paint Shop Pro for the layers.  I have to do it the old fashioned way and take 6-5 screen shots, crop them, paste them on a new screen and match them up and merge them together and recrop to get the right size.  It takes a few minutes but the results are worth the effort.  Anything else you need help with just ask.  Look forward to peeking at your AAR sir [;)]

I looked into this a bit as I figured there had to be a faster/easier way. Lo and behold there are a handful of free image tools that will 'stitch' together multiple screenshots by analyzing the images. One of the higher recommended ones is Microsoft ICE. I tested it out on a few staggered screenshots of my desktop and it worked perfectly.

Thanks CarnageIN ! When I looked at your AAR, I told myself I should improve mine so that I get more readers than you do ! [;)] I will try Paint shop Pro so and if I am completly lost, I will use Microsoft ICE (Thanks Traemyn)

I use free IrfanView to crop images in batch process and then I use Adobe PhotoShop to stitch them together - it takes less than a minute for full map (I did it many time in WitE development)...

I'll have to look into Microsoft ICE and Adobe PhotoShop.  I must admit though that I a stickler for trying new stuff, it has to flow well for me I guess.  Any other 'free' editing programs out there that people have tried and found useful?

Hello

For Mods I make I use Gimp. http://www.gimp.org/

But normaly it takes time to becoming acquainted witch a unknown program. So often peaple says it`s not so good.
I think they are more or less equal capable.
