Sturmpanzer I fix

Post by AceDuceTrey »

The self propelled sIG (heavy infantry gun) 33 was actully a "breach loading mortar (150mm/L12) used much like an assault weapon. An accurate representation for this weapon would be soft attack 15, hard attack 7, range 2.

It has the same values as 15 cm sFH 18.

Perhaps it should be a range of 2.

Even though the muzzle velocity is less it uses the same shells and the penetration tables I found show them to be the same as the 15 cm sFH 18.

Muzzle velocity effects hard target penetration; better (self adjusted) accuracy effects steel on target.

I agree it should but I could not find that in the penetration tables.

I was surprised and think it needs to be updated.

Perhaps you could do a search and provide the links for penetration differences.

Here is the second penetration table that confirms the Sig 33 should be left alone.

All my data is recall (I'm no longer in the Army and have lost access to the classified AMSAA Weapons Effects Manual. However, while in the Army I was assigned to various organizations that "Indexed" data to declassify it. This index, termed the RAP value (standing for Range, Accuracy, and Penetration) scaled the "battle sight zero" range for max charge, Kinetic Energy/solid shot rounds (in tens of meters); to accuracy (fixed 1st round hit probability); to armor penetration (in millimeters). It is surprising how close the RAP values come to PGII and PC HA values if you divide them by 5. For example, the RAP values for the german 75mm/L24 is 35; 75mm/L43 is 65; 75mm/L48 is 70; 75mm/L70 is 105; and the 150mm/L12 is 35. Soft Attack values (Lethal Distance Radii) are computed differently. They take the cube root of the total HE in a shell and multiply it by an effects value (called a Quantity Distance) and then adjust for circular error probable (CEP)- an accuracy measurement (the radial distance that will contain 50% of the round impacts).
