Formation Support

Post by BigDuke66 »

The Manual states:
***
Formation Support Scope Levels

Internal Support: Units assigned to the formation may only freely cooperate with others in the same formation. Limited cooperation is possible with units using the same icon color scheme. No cooperation is possible with units using a different icon color scheme.

Army Support: Units assigned to the formation may only freely cooperate with others in the same formation, or those using the same icon color scheme (icon and symbol color). Limited cooperation is possible with units using the same icon background color. No cooperation is possible with units using a different basic icon color.

Force Support: Units assigned to the formation may only freely cooperate with others in the same formation, or others using the same basic icon color. Limited cooperation is capable with all other units.

Free Support: Units assigned to the formation may freely cooperate with any other units.

Especially the color thing is not clear for me.

For example:
German - white on fieldgray
Mech forces: gold/black on fieldgray
German S.S. - black on Field-gray

This means on "Army Support" the different branches would only use "Limited cooperation" as they only share the same background color(fieldgray)?
And within a branch they would "Freely Cooperate" as icon & symbol color are the same?
And on "Force Support" the would "Freely Cooperate"?

So "icon color" is the color on the outside of the counter and "symbol color" is the color of the tactical symbol in the middle of the counter?

Actually. Those terms are confusing. I always think of it as back-ground and fore-ground colors.

I've re-written the manuals description with these terms:
Formation Support Scope Levels

Internal Support: Units assigned to the formation may only freely cooperate with others in the same formation. Limited cooperation is possible with units using the exact same back- AND foreground colors. No cooperation is possible with units using any different colors.

Army Support: Units assigned to the formation may only freely cooperate with others in the same formation, or those using the exact same back- AND foreground colors. Limited cooperation is possible with units using the same background color. No cooperation is possible with units using a different background color.

Force Support: Units assigned to the formation may only freely cooperate with others in the same formation, or others using the same background color. Limited cooperation is capable with all other units.

Free Support: Units assigned to the formation may freely cooperate with any other units.
