Plus, has anyone noticed that those tank units that arrive in the US are "armoured divisions"?
They could be "Amour "divisions from the US ..
More likely if French .. but it could be a secret plan to kill 'em with kindness [;)]Great Thread BTW sprior & Cap Mandrake I get a laugh everyday ...
Ok back to Freeing the Land of Oz from the likes of Nippon ...

We're only doing this to get the attention this AAR brings us, there is no actual game being played.

Admiral Lord Sprior;
Sent you an email. What do you think we should have happen next turn?
How about a ship collision where one is a tanker and it like blows up? That would be really cool.

Well, we got them hooked with the "carrier battle". We've done "convoy intercept" too. How about "major surface engagement"?

Ooh, ooh, what about where this tanker like sinks, and the escort has to drop depth charges through the survivors in the water?

Well in my AAR I have the Dauntless DB's dropping 1K pound APB's amoungst the surviors of a burning tanker ..unloading the DC Racks amougst the survivors would be far more squeamish decision ....[;)]

Hmmm right up there with Charlton Heston watching his son' s burning plane bounce off the deck .. . I fear today's audience will require the addition of a love triangle and more dubious motives ...[8D]

Yeah and when they drop the charges he shouts "You murdering bastard!" and the skipper is like all upset and has to go and get like drunk.

BTW, can you get in trouble for saying "MURDERING BAAAAHSTERD" to you boss like that if u r like a British Navy dude?

Oh that's right, here we are fighting a battle in Australia and you mention convictions. How culturally aware of you. How would you like it if you lived in a country that had convicted criminals shipped to it as a punishment? Oh wait... oops, sorry.

Good, we will also be bringing out a book "based on the film" and then t-shirts and finally Cap M and Sprior bobble-heads. We've already been asked for an outline for a sequel and have location scouts out now, we're thinking war-time friends fall out when they realise the only thing uniting them was the hatred of a common enemy. Western Germany looks good...

I prefer books based on movies myself. The typeface is usually bigger and you tend not to get 20 pages describing a room and its furnishings.
We are still working out the details of the DD depth charging the survivors of the striken tanker so we came up with this for a placeholder.
***************October 11, 1942*************
Op. Weasel: I-127 was claimed sunk near PH. Jap Netty raids have dried up. 6 Bettys came in today without escort and were destroyed (they apparetnly did not get the memo). B-25's and B-17's hit Broome in fair weather. There was NO CAP! If the weather holds, the worm has turned in the air battle over Broome. Now it will be about getting the damage up and breaking stuff trapped on the field. Wyndham was hit by a highly effectinve B-24 raid composed of 50 aircraft. The CAP was heavy (52 Zeroes) but there are no longer any Tojos flying. The raid caught a bunch of Bettys on the ground (see below). One squadron of B-24 lost a few planes and will need some Parchisi boards.
The entire Jap 20th Div showed up at Daly Waters [X(]. We set some USAAF mediums from Tennant to attack them but they can probably brush aside the defenders of Daly. Of course, this means there are 21K fewer LYB's to defend Darwin. [:)]
SouPac: The former Norfolk Is garrsion is almost dead. Tranports assembling to move 2 or 3 regiments of Marines to Darwin.

Or an offshoot: "Speed: Adventures of a Contretorpilleurs off French Indo-Chine"
History schmistory. Just put a plucky American on board to continually grumble about the cheese-eating surrender monkey of a Captain and then, when they sink ( just after he's sketched a picture of some broad in the nip ), have him make his way back to the states, take command of the Missouri, shoot down Yamato and b*tch slap Tojo personally and then take the Japanese surrender in Tokyo Bay.... all the while telegraphing the love of his life who used to be engaged to his best buddy, before he died at PH. Have Matt Damon write the script and that friend of his star and you'd have a hit. Of course you'd have to have Michael Explosion Bay to direct. Can't have a good historical war movie otherwise.

RE: Aboard HMS Royal Sovereign
***********Analysis of Enemy Intentions/Capabilities, 10-11-42**********
Enemy air strength both in front line fighters (Tojos) and long range naval attack aircraft (Betty/Nell) have been severely attrited. many of these losses will include expereinced pilots. Both Port Headland and Broome airfields apppear non-operational with moderate to heavy damage at Wyndham.
There are likely 2 enemy CV's operational. They suffered heavy losses to their torpedo bombers in their last sortie and have since declined battle. In the interim, Yorktown and the two RN carriers now have a complete air complement of F4F's and SBD's with some reseves available in Geraldton. Copahee is available in Melbourne. Three enemy BB's have been sunk or severely damaged (likely the latter). Four Allied BB's have been severely damaged along with the loss of Enterprise and Hornet. Wasp will be repaired in 2 1/2 weeks. Torres Strait is usable with some risk.
The enemy appears committed to the defence of his holdings Northern Australia as he has moved one full division to Daly waters.
