Windows Issue

Post by Warp »

I own WitP and it runs fine on my computer. I bought WitPAE and it has Window's issues. When my turn comes up and I move my mouse over a unit, the unit information is suppose to pop up. instead I get an old combat summary report, and when I move my mouse away, it still stays displayed. Need less to say that this window issue makes the game unplayable. How do I prevent these unwanted windows from popping up?

MY OS is Windows 7, I have gone to the properties of the program and have tried to run the program in WIndows Vista, Windows XP mode and the problem still persists.

My hardware is an HP voodoo firebird 220 computer with 4GB of RAM and dual NAVIDIA 9800 SLI Video cards.

I really enjoy this game and would like to play, any help would be appreciated.

Two things:

Update your video card drivers.

Possibly use only one of the cards?

Also update to at least the latest released patch, then try running the game with some of the multi core processor switches.  With multi-core systems, the DirectX calls we make with the game can cause problems with some chipsets (especially with Intel processors, AMD have fewer problems) and with some video drivers.

Another thing is to close any other programs that are open when you start the game.  Some programs running in the background can cause strange DirectX issues.  These issues are hard to nail down what exactly causes them, but it appears they are related to what programs are open and the installed hardware.

1) Video drivers are all upto date.

2) no difference if I use one or both video cards.

3) I downloaded the beta 8 version, it ran in a windowed mode, and it worked properly.

How do I launch the non-beta version in a window instead of full screen?

In an early patch note there is a detailed discussion about all the switches which you can make in the properties field of your short cut.

Thank you. If I play the game in a window, it works fine. it just buggers up in full screen mode. I can live with that.
