Turn 9 AGN 8/14/41

He is pushing 4th Pz south of the lake and has a mass of infantry up near the Baltic. Time for the rubber to meet the road for northern front!

9 center - Whoa! I underestimated him last turn... has he been playing with my head? This will be fun to rescue!

9 south - He hugs the river with some powerful infantry so my prediction of him crossing turn 10 looks pretty solid!

He has a little over 1000 Panzers operational. Lets see what we can do about that this turn.

Wow, that was a suprise around Smolensk, he seemed to have done a good job with the encirclement except that cav unit of yours being in the southeast.  How long do you think you can make them last, you'll definitely get one more turn with them supplied but won't he be able to tighten the noose around them in the next turn?  It will be interesting to see you work some magic [;)]

Operation Mercury cancelled!

48th army breaks out to the northeast. Reserve fronts are commited and the center turns into a big mess with several Panzer divisions cut off but not for long...

29th motor started out with a CV of 5. After a series of harsh blows it was left with a shell of itself with 2 CV.

Leningrad seems safe from any deep Panzer thrust with 4th Panzer south of the lake. I opted to move the Kharkov T-34s this turn so leningrad still has all of its industry.

In the south he is jammed up at the river ready to cross with 1st Panzer. I moved reserves in front of the panzers to slow him down and also hit his lightly defended flank with a series of attacks. The river battle should last until turn 11 unless he surprises me again.

That's quite a slugfest in the center. Will delay him from aiding AGS.

It should also delay him in general. The Panzers are stuck in quicksand for at least maybe one possibly 2 turns. The question is what price will I pay the 48th army is not out of the weeds yet.

As far as a Panzer strike to the southeast that window is closing.

The battle for the survival of 48th army continues...

The pocket will not hold but the situation is critical for the 48th army.

10 north start - Luga line has been breached. No Panzers so its containable.

May get lucky and have him rout those mountain divs out while the others cause issues. The supplies to the panzers are going to be ugly there and he is basically on the treadmill doing a lot of stuff there, but not really moving forward.

Luga line if I see things right, you might be able to punt him right back across the river for giggles, although what he took won't be fortified.

If you really wanted to, might be able to red carpet those panzers in the south for a turn and really make him pay for trying to cross the river to enlarge the bridgehead. Supply indicater looks like he is pretty much out of gas there. Lot of low CV's for him and there is a Slovakian just asking to get knocked back. Probably would not take much to punch the Rumanian panzers in the mouth either, even across the river.

Hopefully this guy is taking notes because I think he is getting schooled. [;)]
