Hero Of The Soviet Union ?

Post by Richard III »

Not this time (3rd.) through the `41 GC VS the AI at normal.

At 8/7/41 T8

The AI 3 Div. killer stacks using deliberate attack, just blow through everything, even level 3 Forts with 3 Divs. in them, and move fast through the large holes in the Fronts I can`t cover through lack of units. I`m probably doing something wrong, but don`t know how you can stop them with the lack of AP and poor morale.
I don`t know how the SU PBEM guys last to 1942. PS: I have printed & read the manual, as well as the FAQS and about 100 pages of forum posts regarding SU Play....

Looks like someone spilled a bag of skittles [:)]

Turn on the "e" key to see who owns what as far as hexes.

I can see right away that you have a lot of stacks. The Soviets at this stage should rarely stack units. Spread out instead and accept that you will almost never be able too stop a determined German attack.
There also seems to be an unusually large number of STAVKA units sitting around in the rear areas. Hard to say more without hex control on as Ketza says.

Here is a new Game. My stacks are HQ`s with CU`s. T5 at 7/17/41. The AI attacks with the PZ`s in a wedge and the Inf. close behind. No way to cut off the spearheads. The units around Moscow ( lots of Eng. units there in the Army HQ`s) are digging in very slow too [&:] I`m out of AP and also seems like more Ger. units on the map the SU ones....[&:].Playing Germans VS AI my Pz. are usually out of supply by now.

You can´t halt the Axis in 42 only slow down! Don´t even try unless behind a major river. But you will still only be able to slow them down... Put up a "checkboard defense" and hold on until mud :)

I would suggest reading a few soviet AARs to get a grip on what to do.

Btw, A good tips might be to start with one of the smaller scenarios to learn the ropes! I don´t think the soviet side in the GC is the best scenario to start with... You can´t really do anything but slowly give ground and extremly seldom make a counter attack.
