SITREP 7-3-41

AGN: Soviet forces managed to encircle 1st Panzer Division. 4th Pzr Grp managed to extract it from danger. 2nd, 16th and 18th Armies are racing northward to take Pskov with in 2 weeks HQ is hoping for. AGN had priority for all new infantry div. incoming into theater to fill up all vacant unit slots in Corps OoB's.

AGC: 2nd and 3rd Pzr Grps have yet to penetrate the Smolensk land bridge. Heavy resistance is expected next week. Deep layered defenses are also expected.

AGS: Due to poor performance of 1st Pzr Grp, the drive eastward is very precarious right now. Route of advance in sure. 11th and 17th Armies have secondary priority for infantry div. arriving in theater.

Herb's message got me thinking of past AAR's I did for WitP and WitP AE. I miss those different papers and maps. I decided that I would include German newspaper headlines. Just using maps is kind of boring so I'll try and spice things up with some different stuff if I can. No promises [8D] .

LOL

I will have to use this one if I ever start another AAR. A Pravda clone full of vitriol: "the fascist beast/pig/thug" thing. The "proletarian spirit" etc etc. I already took many ideas from your first AARs by the way [:)]

Sorry to say this carnage, but I have to say it to be fair to your opponent............are you going to actually finish a game this time?

[&:] WOW Herb [&:]

I'm at a loss on why you would ask this. I don't need to explain things but I will clarify it for you sir.

I played Scott1964 in WitP, that game ended for both of us before it even began. No problem I believe.
I played Treznor and Wirraway Ace with WitP AE. Treznor was in the Air Force and went overseas and never heard from him again, I got burned out playing Ace which was my fault.
Redmarkus and I agreed to stop our first game with WitE because of RL job got in the way. I asked Red to start where we left off just a few weeks ago but we both agreed to start a new game. I asked to play Q-Ball but we both agreed that he way out classed me. I played Aurelian who agreed that I out classed him. Miller41 tried to play a game but was already committed to several other players and agreed we would play when he finished some of them. Then there is this game I'm playing now.

Only 1 out of the 8 games did I not try to see it out till the end. I realize these games, especially WitP, are a major commitment to players so I always ensure that I'm there for the long haul, good or bad. Its not that I haven't tried to finish games, its mostly just the circumstances Herb.

If any of these facts are incorrect please let the others have their say.

Carnage is right. He does outclass me. And he's a good guy.

Here is my analysis of Baelfiin's operation doctrine, hopefully by studying this it will help me some how.

SITREP 7-10-41

2nd Army has gone to AGN till 11th Army is scheduled to withdraw, then I'll just transfer the HQ group down south.

AGC situation is normal, might have found a soft spot in the north of my main drive but Baefiin will probably counter my movements.

1st Pzr Grp ran into some massive opposition trying to break the line, I had to end up doing deliberate attacks to crack the wall down.

Disaster has happened!  My hard drive crashed [:@].  Of course the game will continue but all my newer materials are forever gone [:(].  I'm afraid my photo shop program is also gone, like a dumb ass I didn't back it up like I did with a lot of other stuff.  I don't know if I can get a working copy of it going again.  So my apologizes to any who follow but my quality of workmanship may go down until I rebuild my collection.

Try using Paint.Net

http://www.getpaint.net/

Certainly, it isn't nothing as sleek as Photoshop is, but for being freeware I think it's excellent.

i realy like your map design style for your AAR. hope you get your PC and photoshop back on track.

just one question about the lvov pocket:

it seems to bet harder now to create this one after the last patches. i read something about morale changes  so maybe someone can explain whats the matter with that.

Carnage, I've got good news for you [:)]

I am using Paint.net, suggested by Bletchley Geek. But I was not entirely happy because I could not draw TRANSPARENT arrows (which you use). I just have found out that you CAN do that with this FREE software. You have to choose Colour -> Transparency. There's some sort of dial. Adjust it and you'll get the transparent arrows. See screenshot. I suggest you to use this software. You can do everything you were doing with this other non-free software. And it's incredibly light: 13 megas ort so). GIMP is heavy and not very user friendly (I use it in my Linux-Ubuntu partition).

I agree, this is perhaps the most aesthetic AAR. Like 90% of the graphics of my AARs are a pure imitation of Carnage's AARs [:)]

I tried everything to get my info back but sending it off to get re'built'. The freezer trick didn't work nor did the 'Frisbee' throwing action. I took it down to get read by the local pc geeks and they said it was toast. [:(]

Thanks BG and TD for advice for a new graphics programs. I did have to dig through some old CD's I didn't back up to my external HD but I found my old trusty and rusty Paint Shop Pro 7. I just need to gather my newspapers back to be back on track for now. @Pelton.....ya I know but its not worth THAT much! @bigbaba as far as I know its not that much harder to make the pocket at Lvov.

Now back to the AAR, here is the front line trace after the first month.

SITREP 7-17-41

I'm a little disorientated by my time away from the game as to what I was intending to do. AAR's are nice to have to help understand the situation leading up to the current turn. [;)] I am willing to do what ever it takes to take Leningrad, I have been seeing ppl in other AAR's do this and I'm jealous I haven't been able to accomplish this yet versus a human opponent. Moscow would be nice but I don't know if my ability is on par with some of you more advance players [;)] In the south I can tell Baelfiin will be a tough challenger. He fights back in some areas so it will interesting to see how this will go. Q-ball managed to show me what happens to a Soviet who fights back...ouch..[&o]

SITREP 7-24-41

Not a whole lot of time for a complete report of the front. I basically think I'm pushing through Baelfiin's fort region and will have a somewhat easier time in the next few weeks. I'm hoping that the few encirclements will force B back instead of taking steady losses, which I'm sure he probably can afford while hes slowing me down.

SITREP 7-31-41

WOW![X(] Baelfiin totally suckered me into a hard drive toward Leningrad....I'm speechless...[&:]
He must be digging hard around Moscow if a good portion of his troops are gone from the Leningrad region.
I wonder if he realizes that this will force him into defending 2 separate axis of advance with the possibility of me being able to combine into a grand thrust if the opportunity presents itself.
