Unable to download

Dear Developer,
Daniel at Matrix Games Support sent me to this site. I've been attempting to reinstall the game v1106i after uninstalling. Windows 7 is the operating system. The result was as follows. It seemed to download normally. A folder was created in the Matrix games folder. A short cut was not created on the desktop. When attempting to start the program from the War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition application file in the game folder I get this message on a black screen"Error: Unable to find PW file!!!" When attempting to start the autorun application file I get the menu. In the menu options, if I try to play game I get the same result as above. If I try to open the editor it opens normally. The manual does not open. If I look into the manual folder, the manual is missing but two addendums are there." Any help?

The only time I had something similar happen to me, I uninstalled the game. Rebooted the computer and then reinstalled the game and it worked fine.

You do have to install the base game before installing the v1106i patch.
I think that the two obligations you have are to be good at what you do and then to pass on your knowledge to a younger person

Install the base game that you purchased first and verify that it runs okay.

Then apply the patches.

Dear Michael,
Thanks for your response. I get the same result as I have described above when I download and install v1.01.06i from http://www.matrixgames.com/products/351 ... s.-Edition or download and install v1.01.06g public beta from http://www.matrixgames.com/members/priv ... sp?gid=351. Is there another version on the website that I'm missing?

Does it work when you install the original purchased game before applying any of the patches?
As it is Windows 7, what directory is it being installed into??

Gary, please don't confuse v1.01.06i with the original purchased game download.  v1.01.06i is only the latest official patch, which requires the original game to be installed first.

Dear Friends,
First let me thank all of you for your interest and suggestions. It is much appreciated.
I do not have a copy of my original download. I do have my save files backed up. I presumed that the extended download I purchased would allow me to download the game again in case of accident. Silly me. Is there another download link other than the ones I outlined above?

I have an existing directory C:\Matrix Games (also containing War in the East). Whether I run or save and extract the download it creates the War in the Pacific- Admiral's Edition subdirectory in the Matrix Games directory. The program resides there.
I have gotten way more than $84 worth of enjoyment out of this game. So if the solution is to buy the CD to get the original version and reinstall from there, I'm OK with that so long as I know that will work.

Thanks to everyone in solving my issue. Special thanks to Iron Duke for pointing me to where I needed to be. I had read that FAQ but for some reason I didn't think Digital River applied to me until I read it again. Up and running with all the updates.
