Remarkably, haven't read any sci-fi in a while. I'll add this to my list. Thanks Erik.[8D]

I will have to wait for paper back; I have about as much difficulty curling up with a good kendal (or however it is spelled) as I would a good tricorder. [:D]

How could you not curl up with a tricorder? It has an inviting chirp and an answer for all of life's little mysteries. [:D]

Very good technical points there, Simulation, and the older ones are even bigger than the new ones....for those of us who value size. Not me, no, not me.....
...Igniting stellar cores....Recharging reactors...Recalibrating hyperdrives....

A little late coming to this topic, but I thought I would point out that the artist on this, Winchell Chung, has a very interesting webpage.

I found it a while back when researching...something, not sure what it was.

Lots of information about spaceships and space combat.

Just follow the link on the page Erik referenced and visit the Atomic Rockets page on Winchell Chung's page.

sorry to hijack your topic eric.

when one is intrested in a SF novel without space monsters, mysterious black holes and telepathic stuff then thjis one is for you:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wing_Commander_books

thats pure military space action with the focus on the people involved, their backstory and the battles.

give the books a try. you will not be disappointed. these are the kind of books which i can read again and again.

I read the substantial preview on my iphone - something like 108 pages long. Definitely left wanting to read more!
