Unit Rebuild

Post by aoffen »

Anyone have any suggestions as to why this unit won't rebuild? Its well supplied, in Calcutta, with no equipment inconstancies. Its got me beat.

The usual suspect is that at least one of the units has some different device, due to device upgrades. If you are running the latest Beta look for the ** that indicates this behind the device line in the LCU display as Michael advised in another thread.

Am using the patch but no ** anywhere to be seen. All the units were rebuilt from dead and are very weak as they have had few replacements. Wondering if that has anything to do with it.

Maybe, dunno.

Why bring back all the sub units? Can't you just combine the units that are left alive?

If still can't see it, post a save over in Tech and I'll have a look.

The destroyed units should not impact combining the units, although it did in earlier builds (very early betas).
The size of the units should not affect combining either, but ...

The div was destroyed in bits. Kept on bringing bits back trying to rebuild it but doesn't seem to work.
Posting a saved game file to michaelm in tech.
Thanks

I might be wrong but I always thought you could rebuild a unit just from the surviving parts.

Correct however I rather suspect the change introduced to allow repurchaseing a dead unit has broken this/ommitted re-setting a flag.

If you look at the OP, you will see 3 bdes and 2 independent bns listed in the 9th Ind Div OOB. Now IIRC, only two of the bdes start off in Malaya with the third being broken down into its constituent 3 bns. What I suspect might be the case here is that after their destruction, the OP repurchased the third bde without bothering to repurchase all 3 bns. Now the program still sees the 2 independent bns as being necessary to form that third bde.

Pure supposition on my part and michaelm will sort it out properly over in the tech sub forum.

Couple of the units are still un/packing which could be holdup.

Units need to be much closer to the same operational mode with the beta so as not to cause 'weirdness' (new technical term[;)]) to the parent unit after combining. This mismatching modes has caused bugs in the past.

The Div's HQ (that's what I call it) is inactive (1st one on the list). Was this one like that before? The unit will NOT recombine until that part becomes active if this is true.

The Div is inactive because it has been broken down.
Basically when the subunits are recombined, the Div will become active and the other units disappear.

No, that isn't an issue.

The parent unit which can be formed from combining sub units so created in the editor, is always listed as "inactive".. It merely serves as a place holder.
