Billion Dollar Brain is on TV. I always thought Deighton and under-rated writer.

Hi all,

Billion Dollar Brain is on TV. I always thought Deighton and under-rated writer.

I love Deighton!

Especially his historic books:

- Fighter
- Blitzkrieg
- Blood, Tears and Folly: An Objective Look at WWII

And novel:

- Bomber

I liked his Bernard Samson series.

And his early books, "Horse Under Water" (I think Avalon Hill is mentioned in this book), "Funeral in Berlin" and those others.

Well, ya takes your time and tries to explain things to people, and you gets some newby pimple with 13 posts who hops in and says "oh no ... when "I" did it, it was different". I think I'm done with the whole damn AE thing. Let the swine eat cake, so long as they don't screw with michaelm.

Btw, signed up for the local HOG chapter today. Participated in the new rider's low speed challenge course. Didn't win, but didn't lose either. Picked up my windshield from Harley Parts. Getting the bike good to go for local roadtrips and such. Becoming very comfortable with people in colors, denims, bandanas, and the like. They ain't what's in the media. The local HOG folks brought their wives and kids and it was just like a football tailgate party, except NOBODY drinks. Gonna mount the windshield first thing tomorrow, then I'll take some pics. If I can, I'll get some pics of Beaudy by the bike. Whenever I crank her up, Beaudy howls at the back door. Beaudy seriously wants to come with. Oh .. goodness gracious, I think there's a beast rider in the house.

Drinking and riding is astronomically stupid, so no surprise there.

Hmn, haven't we heard this promise before and yet you always seems to be drawn back in ... [:)]

I rather think Beaudy needs a more suitable moniker than "beast rider". Something more along the lines of "hell hound" if you want Beaudy to earn the respect of that 10k doberman. After all, the word "rider" conjures up a connotation of the involvement of a second party (aka you/the machine) and you wouldn't want his peers to believe he is shackled as to what he can do.

Yes ... as a monikor "hell hound" has that more edgy feel to it. You want that doberman to feel a bit like Ichabar Crane hearing the approaching hoof sounds of the headless horseman.

Yeah, hiegh ho. But there's a lot of righteous players now, that prolly know everything. Main forum is mostly just little kids now. Not worth the time to talk to. So long as they don't get a bone in their noses and try talking michaelm into something totally stupid, they are ignorable.

So, hang with friends here, hang a bit with the RA folks on the Scen Forum, keep on top of developments and update Babes when and where necessary, play some of our latest scenarios, post some bike pictures; kinda like semi-retirement. Still in, but way on the periphery.

'Beast rider' is good. The little Beaudy Bear sure ain't no 'hell hound'. Only way he could hurt you is lick you to death. "Beast rider' moniker is good because that tells other bike riders that the pup belongs to a bike rider and the pup is a bike rider too. What I hear from my local HOG chapter is even the most hardcore MC people will always come over to pet the dog and talk to you. A strange kinda respect thing that's going on there.

Ah, I see we have, ahem, slightly different views on the demands being placed on michaelm. I'm not as sanguine that he hasn't been prevailed upon to introduce certain enhancements which IMHO are contrary to the fundamental game design principles.

Good to know that if I see a bandana wearing rottweiler atop a Harley (a Ducati might be a more artistic scene) I can approach the generic beast rider. The only concern would be whether I'm wearing a raincoat to protect me from the canine's slobber. Actually I would have approached him anyway even without the latest intel.

BTW, you may be unaware of this, but there are some people who actually complain about canine breaths and being licked. For these poor specimens of homo sapiens, Beaudy's described behaviour would be the epitome of a hell hound.

I say, unleash the inner hell hound. Perhaps some extra garlic in the Bolognese pasta sauce fed to Beaudy would enhance the strength of his breath. For pasta selection I've found penne to be far superior to spaghetti or fussili for canines. Tortellini are not a bad option either.
