Only indirect. Your jocks gain experience for passing their own skill checks. Higher ranked opposition might cause you to check moves, heal, repair or eject more often :)

im sure hetzer would help you with the healing and skill checks if you asked nicely, of course you might wanna make sure you have a few neck braces on hand

then again you wouldn't have to be asked at all would you hetzer?

A little trick for gaining pilot skill:

Whenever you fall down keep trying to stand up untill you see the movement increased message. Do this every time you try to get up cos you dont have to pass a skill check for interupting your movement phase when standing up.

This may be old news but i just learned that yesterday :)
cheers

i just take the pilot out and have him do lots of random things like jump up/down stand/crouch scan the eenemy and get his points way up there then kill the guy off for like 200 cxp

EDIT: enemy guy mind you :P

I'm not sure on the money issue, but i do know that higher ranked jocks do NOT give you more xps. You will probably take more checks, and thus earn more, but facing them does not automatically give you any kind of bonus. That's something that always bothered me. It's like Chess, you don't play somebody you can beat every time if you want to get better. You play somebody you Can't beat, and play them untill you can beat them consistently. You get more experience from better opponents I would imagine. But not in ToS.
Of course, playing better opponents will give you much more REAL expirience, so if you want to make yourself better at ToS, play someone really good, and study what they do. That's how I learned. I remember Rosary and Marga woopin up on me several times.
I see your lips moving, but all I hear is: Blah Blah Blah, I'm a friggin moron.

I think you are mixing things up here PC.

If I fire at or scan a stationary enemy titan it doesn't matter wether he is rookie or elite. I get experience by excercising my skills.

I can watch his tactics to imrove mine but this is no skill in ToS.
If it was I would agree with you on this.

In another way I do get more xps playing elite opponents.
If the titan is dodging its harder to hit which is modified by the jocks pilot skill. Better skill - harder to hit. Harder to hit - more xps in case of success. Same goes for scanning when the opponent is interfering with E.C.M.s.

Another example. A 8.8cm anti tank crew in WW II would not get
more gunnery/aiming experience by hitting the approaching crack tanker instead the rookie. They wouldn't also notice that one of the tankers was chess champion ;)

This doesn't work in WS. Breaking move during stand up or crouch from prone results in a fall (and subsequent damage). :P

What I meant was personal experience. The player himself would get better. Not his jocks.

But I understand what you mean. It was just a bit of rambling on my part.
