Automate transports of Population?

Is there a way to simply tell the AI to move colonists around to were there is most free space?

Afaik, auto transports will move population to the location with maximum growth first.

I realize I’m being a newbie idiot here but how do I enable automatic population transport?

You enable individual fleets of transports by selecting that option at the top of the fleet display window for that fleet.

When you select a planet, go to the panel "fleets". There, there is a small symbol on top (i think it's with an A inside): press on it and select how many ships you want to automate.
