Losses from the two offensives. 226 Panzers is a lot to lose but he has ground down his Panzer divisions from constant fighting and they are easy pickings to counter attack. His motorized divsions are beat up as well. His infantry is in great shape however and are now closing in on lines I wont be pulling back from.

Great slugfest going which absolutely favors you. This game is certainly different than most and has a bit of a more historical feel from some of the Russian counter attacks, etc although it is probably a case of the Russians doing a bit better, which is fine since there are more Russians to do better with at this point since he did so little pocketing.

His infantry coming up is going to be another issue altogether however and the fun will probably end shortly. One thing to push around tired and depleted panzers, quite another against good infantry.

Yes the time is coming where the stomp stacks of infantry have to be dealt with. The good thing is it will only be for a few turns before mud arrives.

No pre shots this time as I wont be spending as much time on the AAR due to the fact I think my Axis opponent may bail at some point. Here is the center after my moves. He finally shut the door on the cauldron with some pretty strong stacks on Panzers. His infantry is close so I did not want to concentrate too much to try and break his ring.

During the fighting 2 mountain divisions were rescued but the rest are toast.

South final - He pulled 1st Panzer back across the river to most likely bust up my Ingulets river line so I pulled back a bit to prevent a potential large pocket but left a screen of unready divisions along the river.

Are you in communication with DAK, or is it a pure server game? I don't think I'd play someone if I didn't have their email or some way to communicate with them. Hopefully the devs will introduce some texting function when we send turns.

Its a server game. I like them as you do not know what your going to get opponent wise. The downside is a lot of those games do not work out but I think its more because of the changing dynamics of the game due to patches.

This turn in our game is going slow because I have a lot of admin work to do now that army groups A and B have arrived so it may be a few days getting back to you.

Turn 17 North end - The last few turns of summer he grinded forward but with no Panzer threat Leningrad was a sideshow. All the factories are still present. I pulled out 8 good divisions and sent them to Moscow for a counter offensive.

17 Northwest - He grinded through the hills for a few turns but another quiet front.

17 Center final - Here his massed Panzer armies and Zhukovs massed infantry front traded blows turn after turn. One turn when I thought he had withdrawn his Panzers for a rest he used HQ buildup and trapped some 20 weak divisions of western front in a pocket. The pocket was rescued one turn but the next turn he had a solid wall of double stacked infantry so I was content to let it go. The pocket actually kept the bulk of his armor occupied during the last 3 clear turns so in the end I think it was a good thing.

This turn I counter attacked his 6 and 7 CV infantry divisions and pushed him back in several areas. Casualties were a bit rough but I think it was worth it getting licks on his infantry.

17 south final - He was stopped dead in his tracks before he got to D and Z town. I launched a swarm of counterattacks to any unit with a CV of 6 or less. Casualties were high but it kept him from going nuts with his Panzers.

He is already preparing for winter down here as he has broken down his mountain units and seems to be spreading out to begin building forts.

17 losses - His losses hit a half million and the last 3-4 turns his infantry and I have been tangling. My own losses are about the same as someone who had lost a lot of troops in a Lvow pocket mainly because of my own aggresive attacking whenever an opportunity arose. I really wanted to test out trying to duke it out more with the Axis in the late fall and given the fact I had some extra power I tried it. The result was he was stopped fairly early in several sectors of the front.

17 Air losses - The loss ratio is around 5 or 6 -1 but I must point out I have done 0 airbase attacks against the Luftwaffe. The losses have come from pure ground initiated air battles such as interdiction, unit bombing and GS.

17 Production - The only factories he bagged as I recall were Minsk and maybe a half dozen points of HI I forgot to move.

Playing DAK has been fun but it has also been a bit surprising at times. Just when I let my guard down and get sloppy because I think he will quit he takes advantage of the situation. I plan on keeping the AAR going as long as he stays in the game. With blizzard coming up things might get rather interesting.

One odd thing about this game is guards units. I only have one guards division but I have a lot of victories under my belt. My last game that got to turn 17 I had maybe 20 guards units. Does anyone know if the guards equation was changed with 1.5?

I am going to have 3 main offensives in December. The first will be on the Leningrad front. He is relatively weak here so the thrust will be made by 3 reinforced armies 21st, 23rd and 8th. Another army under Volkhov front is in reserve and will press the front as it moves forward. Another Shock army will also form with Volkhov front.
