Bad Hersfeld, 50km SSE of Kassel, Germany: [Best played as American or 2 player PBEM] Even as Task Force Balm was making its ill-fated attempt to liberate American POWs at Hammelburg in late March 1945, the rest of the 4th Armored Division began to exploit its small bridgehead across the Main River from Hanau. The advance east was swift, with the combat commands splitting into smaller formations to cover more ground and increase the disruption of the northern wing of the German Seventh Army as it struggled to establish a cohesive defense. At Bad Hersfeld the commander of the Seventh Army, General von Obstfelder, was trying to put together an armored force to counterattack into the flank of the American advance using Panzer Brigade Thueringen. Obstfelder's attack would never take place! On the 29th, the last of some forty hoarded panzers were completing unloading from railcars and joining with the 300th Assault Gun Battalion south of the village. Suddenly a column of tanks and tank destroyers from Task Force Battaglia stumbled into the German infantry outposts along the highway to Frankfurt and immediately opened fire, beginning a mad free-for-all along the banks of the Fulda and Haune Rivers!*

2 P-47s dive in and take out a boxcar at the rail-station and a HQ tent?

Turn 1

AMERICAN Cav/Recon start up the road.......

a recon jeep hit a mine on the first stream bridge..no contact...

an M8 hall'***'s to the first VH..is taken under fire by a ATR...

50cal-quad jeeps come under fire by some sort of flak guns..sounds like 20mm
(we run)

US lead units are sweating...big-time! we are only a dozen hex's from Asbach..and its visible road-block!

First blood!

Two greyhounds that advanced to far at toasted by at at gun!

A 37mm aa gun takes out a 50 cal aa jeep, and a beloved 88 takes out an M3 scout. Many recon units are spotted and the call goes out that the Tin Can Brigade is comming!!:D

On a sad note, a stoooopid P-47 turned a Tiger into a heavily armored mg pillbox.....

On a happy note, lots of 88's!:D

I took out most (i think) of the Flak farm..I see and engage the 88 across the river..

I am comming up the road into hell itself....long range AT fire from the west!:mad:

Not too much this turn.

An ht is taken out by an at gun and some infantry get a little GE lovin'.

Trying to get GE units organized into something that resembles a defense......

Blasted scenarios never have things where I want them!

I secure the N/S road and kill a few GE inf..HMG Pillbox! nasty for my recon! Reinforcements arrive in the form of a Eng. platoon with cool toys!;)

If at guns punding you is secure, then yeah, I guess you secured it;)

AT gun takes out a Hellcat.

GE defenses still coming to life and getting into place.

US and GE forces racing up either side of a N-S river! Got to get ahead of them.........!

Lots of small battles...Overlord is winning so far...but I have the might of the M4 comming soon son..yes..real soon:mad:

Why the US HQ!

Ge reinforcements are streaming in as well and being shipped off to defensive positions.

M4's coming soon?:)
