The Vikings lost. But they played much better with Ponder as QB. My teams didn't fare to well this weekend. UND football team lost a close one. And the Hockey team gets swept in Wisconsin 5-3, 5-4. They are a young team. Can't be in the Frozen Four every year.
Congrats New Zealand in the world Rugby Championship. I even watched part of that game.

Yep, we watched it yesterday too. Tough game played by both sides. Still figuring out the rules, but it's interesting to watch.

Did you happen to catch the Colts/Saints?

Drew Brees had more TDs than interceptions... wow

Nice John! [:)]

BTW, how fast can you legally drive such motorcycle on the roads / highways / freeways?

Are there any public / private tracks you can go and drive faster?

Leo "Apollo11"
Hi Leo. Thanks, I'm seriously loving it.

Motorcycles here must obey the speed limit, same as any other vehicle. Max on our freeways is about 110 kph. 110kph might not seem bad for a car, but for an unprotected human, exposed to the elements, it's a real witch. It's very fatiguing and the margin for error becomes vanishingly small. Most riders actually keep it way under the limit on freeways and such. The whole point to riding a bike is enjoying the ride. So slower is gooder. And that would be me.

There are lots of private racing speedways over here where folks can get a major adrenaline fix, both on long straightaways in places that have reconditioned abandoned airfields, and on banked oval tracks. Them's the only places where one can get medieval legally. Them's also the places that have trauma units for when you lose it.

Wanna come over this side of the pond and go for a ride? Feel the thunder under your thighs? the wind in your hair? see the sunlight dappling through the trees? watch the land change around you? smell the jasmine and honeysuckle? go to the beach and be free of parking places? hang with Beaudy and his string of adoring coeds?

Ciao. John

I don't know if that could called a game. 62-7 wow. Was there even a Colt on the field?

Would liked to have seen the All in Black get the shutout against the Franks.

Hi all,
ORIGINAL: Terminus

Not QUITE the same. A concrete wall has no crumple zone, after all.

I think it is essentially the same... at such speeds (around 100 km/h) it is almost irrelevant if you hit another car, concrete wall or some animal (even as small as rabbit)...

Leo "Apollo11"

Not really. While remaining quite hazzardous, with the two cars hitting each other there's a greater chance that a good portion of the kinetic energy will bleed off in other directions, aided by crumple zones and the "give" of the two structures allowing each vehicle to move in different directions away from each other etc etc. A concrete wall has no give......the classic immovable object. All this test proves is.....DONT RUN INTO A CONCRETE WALL AT 100+ MPH.......you won't walk away.

Do agree with Leo, Nik. While the physics of collisions leads to certain areas of potential physical survival under specific circumstances, at 100 kph, you are toast. Don't care what little safety car you are in. it's a random, and you are at the bottom of the calc no matter how may frikkin crumple zones or airbags you got. At a headon at 100 kph, you are dead, unless you are unbelieveably lucky. Even then, you are in hospital for a long, long time; and you will never be the same. Govt safety bullshit is not realiy.

If the two unfortunates are doubly unfortunate to be hititng each other at such speeds and their angle of impact is exactly flush and centered then yes....there's little difference. Hence the test is still a dumb waste of a vehicle. However most collisions arn't so geometrically perfect which was my point. With the two vehicles having both give and the chance to glance off each other and bleed the kinentic energy, the chance for survival, while low is better than running into an immovable object the size of a concrete wall. (i'll take my chances with the armadillo, having been in the passenger seat when we hit it at 70mph.)

Hence......like i said....all this test ultimately proves is......don't drive fast into concrete walls. The wall will win.
