How about this monster......

Post by LoneWulf63 »

How about this monster? This is an artists rendition of the Entwicklung series Super Heavy TD based on the E-100 chassis. This monster had a 170mm ATG. I guess you could ad-hoc a JgdPz V from the current game and come up with the stats for the 170mm gun. Not sure how it would preform in the game but I wouldn't want to be on the business end of that gun barrel. Chris.

And I found this great artist's rendition of the E-100 Super Heavy Tank. Not sure how it would have done in a combat situation but it sure is a great looking tank.

I never read anything of a 170mm ATG. The most I read was a proposal to put a 150mm on the Maus, but it would be in a casemate and not have a rotating turret.

Mobius. I think it was one of those paper designs but evidently it was proposed if the war had continued. Still, damn nice looking AFV.

I also found drawings of a really ridiculous design called "The Monster". It had dual 16" naval guns in a turret taken from the Greisnau class of heavy crusiers. It was to be powered by four (might have been six) U-boat engines. When you put a scaled drawing of a Maus next to it, the Maus looks like a gnat on the ass of an elephant. I'll try and find the drawing and post it, if you are interested. Chris.

This is a drawing of the German Landkreuzer P.1500 "Monster". This is not the one I was referring to above. The one I was referring to was the P.1000 "Ratte". Look at the Tiger II and the truck next to this thing. They look like Tinker Toys. BTW...this thing was armed with a 800mm gun. Truly a very ridiculous waste of time, energy, and resources.

Steve. I found the following about the 170mm gun.

"In 1942, Krupp received order to design the vehicle (waffentrager) using Tiger II’s components, which was to be part of Grille Series. It was to be able to mount 170mm K 72 L/50 gun - Grille 17."

resinslinger,  without taking your eagerness away, if you feel the desire of making new units I would suggest to make the missing ones or repair the not so nice ones. There are two Sherman models in the Russian OOB. It would be nice to have have more detailed ones. There is the Nashorn missing as well. You could do Axis allies. I can give you information about Hungarian vehicles [;)]. You could do the Churchill LL tank in Russian OOB. You could do a Cruiser tank model to prepare the possibility of a North Africa mod. [:D] Leave Fantasy to LOTR and others... (I like LOTR and playing it in a MTW2 mod but that is off topic here.)

Yes, I'm thinking of it. But it is fun to dream about the vehicles and units that did not see combat.
