I finally managed to make a tiny little pocket. Far may find the power to un-isolate that dude. We'll see.

This is the rail / supply picture for the deep south. As you can see I'm on the verge of being out of supply when I move to the further
reaches of the front lines. It's looking as if I'm going to have to pull back to be in supply. Besides the Soviets have manned the lline
in places where I don't have any dudes so I'm in danger of being outflanked. Stalingrad is mostly done and there's no really good
reason to remain stretched out like this.

I finally managed to get a tiny bulge started. Maybe I can drive a wedge in there or something?

Actually the rail / supply situation isn't the best in the area south of Moscow. It's looking like my plans for Moscow will have to be put on
hold. The South pincer isn't ready yet.

I've been thinking about pulling back to the blue line so that I can defend behind rivers and so that the front line would be shortened
considerably. I'm thinking I would benefit more than the Soviets would in such a move. I could be wrong. Opinions out there ?

EDIT: I forgot to draw a blue line across the entrence to the Crimea. Imagine that it's there already. I'm too lazy to change the picture.

Larry!

If there ever was a time to grab more land and not withdraw this is it, you have his army severely weakened posing a minimum counterattack threat to you, you have enough cities / land that you are finally starting to affect his manpower ect. you are deep enough to make him start moving even more factories / arm areas.

Time is of the most precious though cause the longer you wait he will rebuild.

You need supply and need it badly, two things

you need to stop those rail units form dilly dallying around and put them to complete a specific task and do it with haste and efficiency, not a second to loose.

second youve scattered your armored spearheads to the 4 winds...

what they should be doing is concentrating into an un-apposeable force near his units / cities, forcing him to react instead of you reacting to him, then u need to keep surrounding units.. push for more cities. and you need those dang rail units to make it possible and support you, and you need to to it in a target rich environment with good terrain.. hint

larry this is you right now

Image
this is what you should look like

you are stepping on his neck and not breaking his spine, thats no excuse, now im glad we had this talk larry, now go murder some reds.

I hear you. The problem is that I'm so far away from my supply sources that my dudes are getting smaller and smaller movement allowances.

Yeah, time is against me in the rest of this game.

I have all of them out repairing as fast as they will go. At last count there are five of them and I'm pretty sure I know approx. where they are all the time.

I hear you. The problem is that the distribution of Axis units is hitting the max allowable. The front lines are so sparse in some places that there's only a single unit watching three hexes by itself with no backup or reserve. I have run out of combat units to use on the front line. There were some Italian units that had a mission of city garrison that I moved south to keep the advance going but I've had a rash of partisans pop up in my rear and so far the damage is minimal but I could suffer some catastrophic rail line damage at any turn.

I'm glad we had this talk too. Okie dokie no pull back......I'll give it the old college try.

I just now upgraded to the 1.05.037 beta version of WITE and so far so good.

This is the situation in the south. I think I'll try to shift some people to the east and try to work that bulge a little bigger, try to maybe get
the Soviets to back up.....maybe surround some if I can.

Here's my moves. I made the bulge bigger by a little bit and with a little luck at all I might be able to get a couple of Soviet units
isolated.

Farfarer pushed his Southeastern-most Axis units way beyond the supplied railhead; i'd be carefull about continuing attacks with those inherited units until the supply line is decently close.

Honestly larry, I can tell that you are not an Axis player, you are still in the Soviet mindset of "attack all along the front, withdraw to safe terrain when you can, and streamline the command structurea asap". This strategy will not work as the Axis as you can't win the attrition war and you do not have the command / control structure flexibility the Soviets have. The main priority as Axis is to attack attack attack! Concentration of force and when the Soviet is on the run, that's when you have to pursue, else they will dig in and they will get truckloads of reinforcements.

I hear you. I have an FDB designated for the rail to the south and another FDB fixing rail toward the southeast and I found at least two FDB's working their way to the east. I honestly don't remember about the north and middle though so I need to take a look at that for sure. Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah. I believe you, agree with you completely, and find no fault with what you say. Um......but I'm running into limits on the supply lines and the tanks run outta gas past a certain point. I've got the Italians working their way to the east but meanwhile the Soviets have an unbroken line and I don't yet. I'm not sure I can recover this little mea culpa thing and pursue both at the same time. It's trickey dickie and lots of action going down. I like to imagine that it's all in motion everywhere moving, attacking, doing recon, etc. all simultaneously. That reminds me I need to assign some night fighters because of all the partisan supply flights. Six at last count, per night.

Heh this really makes me want to do a PBEM / AAR in the future where well known players take their weaker or not too often played side. I think your switch up is a great learning tool. As someone who plays both sides (but I'm a weaker Axis player myself, even though I play them more often) you get a whole new perspective when you switch, and you become a better opponent as you know the limits of your enemy.

Hey.......I think that's a great idea. Let's see what Pelton does with the Soviet side. I love it.

I think you're absolutely correct with this point. I'm finding out that just switching from the Soviet side to an Axis player is like being a
doctor and being told you've just assumed responsibility for a certain patient and you've not even met the person yet. So far I'm just
a hair past overwhelmed. So any time I get any advice I adopt it as my own. LOL.

Here's the T63 front lines after the application of some Axis recon:
