I think I'm also reffering to the cummulative effects of ahistorical applications distorting the historical basis which this very fine game is built upon.
Dan, in no way do I mean to criticize the developers.
WitP AE is definately not a 'rock-paper-scissors' type game. IMHO, some ahistorical apps can push it in that direction.
I understand that different player styles demand a variety of open ended methods to be available to the various units.
What I see is a historical game of strategy, based on the WWll Pacific Theater.
That's why I like it.
And it is, after all, just my opinion.

No worries.

We've reached the point where all the AE improvements are accepted as standard and folks are pushing the envelope for more and more "stuff". Sub operations in support of fleet operations is one good example. There are lots of extensions that could be made, but it's at the point where only a full rewrite of the game could handle the upgrades. That is a few years worth of work for a dedicated team. Then, in a couple of years, the threads would start about lack of ability to specify mechanical, proximity, and standard fuzes for AA ammo; and the ever popular "lets break supply into food, ammo, constructions supplies, spare parts, etc".

Lots of things that could be done, lots of folks that think their ideas have to be done. I got some things too. But the game is playable, fun, and challenging as it is now. Any more upgrades are going to be done by someone other than me.

For any of you unfamiliar with Knavey, an "old salt" who used to haunt these halls, he would make tongue-in-cheek posts about improbable events that proved the game was broken....yet the improbable events had actually occurred. In that spirit:

Knavey (is my brother and) is still around (he in fact has more time to play AE than I do). I just think think he's developed the same disease that I have of late - working too much and no time to monitor the boards. I'll pass on that he's "missed" tho, that might bring him about for another round or two of "This game is so broken! This can't happen...!".

Don't fret, Nika.  Most of us "get it".  [:D]

What a bunch of condescending bovine scatology!! Don't worry Treetop they may yet pick you as a game play tester. Oh, you have a smug on yer nose.

Shithead...

Welcome to the green button.

You can stop AI using ahistorical tactics/strategies if you delete higher numbered AI files from scenario. But they sure bring lot of surprises, Andy Mac was devious when creating those scripts. [8D]

Could some one explain this a bit more? What are the higher number AI files?

There are I think 16 AI variants files and roughly 8 are more aggressive, 8 more passive.

They all have raids etc though
