RE: sveint (Axis) vs Oleg (Soviet) - Axis PoV
The gap, or what is left of it. This sector won't be defended at all during winter. If the Soviets want to pour troops in here to be surrounded in spring, they are welcome to.

What's your intentions around / south of Moscow ? I would worry about the Ryazan bulge which uses a lot of troops to held a lenghty frontline. Well, picture was from turn 18, but has frontline changed in your favor since then ?
“Aim towards enemy“.

Massive Soviet attacks everywhere except in the South near Rostov. The plan is to give ground where needed except directly in front of Moscow. So far the casaulty rate is rather in our favor. Especially when we hold the Soviets suffer extreme casaulties.

As expected our light screen stands no chance against strong red forces. We will have to fall back as long as winter lasts.

Here we will make a slow orderly withdrawal. A mountain unit counter-attacks in front of Moscow. Strong reserves are directly in front of Moscow.

Heavy fighting all around the ring. In the north we don't fare too well. In the south many many Soviets die trying to penetrate the line.
We are prepared to give up all this ground if needed. It's also a wonderful area for a spring counter-attack.

Minor attack on our lines. The Romanian mountain corps will deal with it.
Oleg is of course far too smart to send anything into our funnel (north of here).

Turn 32, 1/22/1942, Blizzard
Things are quieting down. Soviets seem to have set down to dig in. This is bad news for us. Even at Leningrad they didn't take the bait.
So no bulges for us to exploit come spring.

Turn 35, 2/12/1942, Blizzard North/Center - Snow South
Despite continued blizzard, we punch a hole in Soviet lines before they can dig in (the hex was weakly held with a level 1 fort).
Two fully rested mountain divisions are worth 20 standard divisions during this first winter.
