Very different defence from B from one I faced. I had to get Leningrad the hard way taking the very long way round. Managed to bag 400K prisoners though. 1st time he had lost the city apparently which may have prompted his strategy this time. I have to say I have never failed to take it myself, or managed to hold it against a good and determined Jerry.

I must say Sillyflower that it was a different twist to things, a little on the gamey side of things but I guess if he wants to give up those manpower centers that's up to him.

Here is the front line trace for the first few months. Looking over this with previous games I'm a bit disappointed by my performance. Still its going to be interesting for me to see how this new Leningrad gambit pays off.

SITREP 9-4-41

Latest news from my game with Baelfiin. Things seem to be coming together in the north, I think his move to abandoned Leningrad may have made another good axis of advance toward Moscow. I believe Baelfiin over estimated my game performance by leaving Leningrad, which I have yet to take in a pbem game [:(].

In the center I'm having great difficulty in breaching his defenses along the river east of Smolensk. I'm going to try and use 2nd Pzr in the north and 3rd Pzr in the south. I tried to break into a small crack in the lines with 3rd Pzr but using them as a sledgehammer just isn't going to work.

In the south I have a great opportunity to break through to the other end of the Crimean pen. and have a good starting point come summer of 42. I'm going to send all future reinforcements to the AGS to help bolster 11th and 17th Armies.

Eastern Front SITREP 9-25-41

Progress eastward has been satisfactory even with the slow start. This is mainly due to Baelfiin's stubborn resistance around Moscow and a good portion of his units around there. I'm considering a winter snow drive even though it may prove dangerous. I want to give ground for time in my winter strategy.

Eastern Front SITREP 10-9-41

I feel that significant ground has been made during the summer 41 offensive. I'm now going into defensive preparations for Baelfiin's offensive. I've only tried static or semi elastic defenses. I'm curious about trying something new. I'm going to be studying some of the more comprehensive AAR's out there for ideas. Anyone got a particular AAR that has a good winter defense?

Front line trace 10-23-41

No new 'big' developments so I won't be posting a full frontal map. I must admit I shamelessly forgot that mud season started on turn 18 so I was caught...briefly...with my panzers exposed [:-].

Eastern front sitrep, 11-27-41

Winter has arrived and I expect Baelfiin to give a great offensive. I have plenty of room to pull back if I run into trouble. I would like to hang on in the north as much as I can. It offers so much opportunity for a good start in the Summer of 42.

If at all possible, which I'm sure it will be, I'm going to put the panzers in the shed for the season.

Front line trace 12-25-41

Been busy this last week or so, didn't have time to keep AAR up to date. So far my 'semi elastic' defense is a total wreak versus Baelfiin's offensive. I have lost 4 divisions to B and may loose more. I'm having a hard time finding solutions to assist my force from breaking away from combat without throwing away some digital soldiers. Never leave a comrade behind! [:D]

4 weeks down, 8 more grueling weeks left! [:(] This is a great lesson for me and one I will not forget! I really must study other defensive strategy, but I hate giving ground freely [:@].

East Front SITREP 12-25-41

AGN has had a very quite time of it except the extreme southern portion. I'm short units and have no solutions to fix the problem.

AGC is falling back in good order, there are potential cracks growing in the defense.

AGS is fighting for its life, 6th Army is under mega strain and is busted at the seems, Mnt. regiments are trying to shore up the Army but it close to getting encircled at times. The Stalino cites will help curb B's offensive in that area.

AGS SITREP 1-15-42 'Battle of Kharkov'

I really wanted to cover the first winter offensive in much better detail than what I have been. RL and holidays are slowing my game play down dramatically it seems. It seems I just can't find the time to post anything to AARs or the forum [:-] [:(].

A very interesting break in the front lines has lead me to this moment. The battle of Kursk is evolving into the battle of Kharkov. I just can't seem to send units fast enough to keep ahead of Baelfiin's offensive. The 2 Panzer's divisions of 39th Panzer Korps, 3rd Panzer Army have only a few tanks left. 7th Panzer only has 6 AFV's and 20th Panzer has 5. It was necessary to have these 2 divisions placed in the lines as a fire brigade.

12th Korps has been unlucky this campaign. They have lost a total of 4 divisions out of the 8 lost so far! I can't wait until the end of his offensive, my troopers are very tired and running out of rifle units[:@]
