iPad Apps & iPhone games

Post by JeanAllTrekkie »

I posted a whiles ago about why independent strategy developers should start making apps for The iPad, iPhone, etc. After a number of months i haven't yet seen any titles from Matrix or their Independent Developers (Except Slitherine) released or near release. So I want to give strategy developers another reason why they should jump in. Lets have a look at what the other people are up to.

GREAT iPAD & iPHONE Games:

Pocket: World At War
GREAT GAME. One of the best iPhone games i ever played. You command Allied armies fighting and liberating France, Russia and europe from germany. The game did so well the developer made a iPad HD version and now is developing a Naval version of the title.

Assault Commander
This game is really a amazing strategy simulation. You control a army, navy and air units and your goal is to take key locations on the map and eliminate enemy units. This game is very popular in The App Store, so much so that they make 4 other similar titles.

BTW This game would be amazing if done in a Civil War setting

Romance of The Three Kingdoms
Koei, the same publisher that made such games as Pacific Theater of Operations I, II, II or PTO for short, released their classic Romance of The Three Kingdoms on both iPhone and iPad... did so well they released a sequel.

Even a small 1 man company known as Waggoner Industries made a game called Tactica RTS. This game is doing good on the App store and proves that even a 1 man game can make a great game and some $$$$

So why has'nt Matrix or any other developer got into the game. All I can say is your missing out as well as us. We want to see what titles you can come up with for The App Store

Slitherine Games, Matrix's sister company, has Egypt-Engineering an Empire for the iPad. They are also developing Battle Academy for the iPad. Although it is not Matrix, you can check out this site for other possibilities for the iPad: http://www.shenandoahstudio.us/. They are focusing on porting over some board wargames to the iPad.

For those of you with Android devices, check out DK Simulations on the Andriod Market.
History began July 4th, 1776. Anything before that was a mistake.

I just bought tactica rts and it is a fun game. Closest I have seen to a pure wargame for the iPad. Only 6 Scenarios though.
