Public Beta v1.50.39 Now Available!

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Public Beta v1.50.39 Now Available!

Post by Andrew Loveridge »

Hello All,

There is a new version of the 1.05 Public Beta in the Members Club. This includes Formula Changes, AI Improvements, and a number of bug fixes, in addition to adding update support for German Retail version. Most language dependent changes will appear in English until the official patch, which will contain updated language files for the German Retail version.

Please remember this is a beta, any feedback is appreciated.

V1.05.39 – November 2, 2011
New Features and Rule Changes[/b] [ul] 1)Formula Change – Increased the randomness when a new scenario is loaded. 2)Formula Change – Reduced the possible MP reduction due to interdiction attacks. 3)AI Change – Additional improvements in both attacking AI and defensive line formation including fixing a bug in the computer’s combat calculations.
Bug Fixes
1)Fixed a bug where multiple leaders can get killed in one air attack. 2)Fixed a bug where newly build units can be assigned to Air HQs. 3)Fixed a bug where a leader could be appointed to command but not promoted in rank per the rules. 4)Fixed a bug with the display of the air HQ in combat reports. 5)Fixed a bug where accessing a support unit could bring up the HQ buildup window. 6)Fixed a bug so that now all HQs and airbases are always on refit (as stated in the manual). 7)Fixed a bug where 0 CV units could be shown in combat reports (and theoretically on the map) with very high combat values (just a display issue). 8)Fixed a bug where non-combat units were preventing fort decay (only combat units should prevent fort decay).

Thanks in particular for 1)Formula Change – Increased the randomness when a new scenario is loaded.

It should make the Axis opening a bit more interesting since it is not known if a unit has (relatively) high or low morale.

For clarity, is an airbase considered a non-combat unit?

Great news! I'd rather leave damaged equipment behind than loosing MPs.

I'm unable to install this update. It appears to have disabled my firewall twice and then it tells me I do not have WitE installed.

8)Fixed a bug where non-combat units were preventing fort decay (only combat units should prevent fort decay).

You fixed it to dam good.

I did a turn patched game and next turn all my lvl 2 forts are gone, before I can move combat units in to stop decay.

Thanks for uber nerf on patch what did it grand father fort decay?

Thanks for screwing me over.

Any way to fix your F-up?

Not sure if you are saying that there is something wrong or that it's working as it should and you just got stuck because you were taking advantage of the bug that allowed non-combat units to stop fort decay. If it's just the latter, then you can go back to the previous turn and use an earlier version. Of course, it's also possible that you wouldn't have the forts to begin with if you had been relying on non-combat units to keep the decay from happening. I'm sorry that you're not happy with the results, but the bug needed to be fixed.

Pelton, in my opinion you are way out of line here... Not being happy about a change, fine.. A bug screwed you over, been there done that.. But acting the way you do while 2by3 is offering excellent support not matched by some VERY large software houses is just too much..

Take a chill pill or take a break...

EDIT not to mention, you are playing a beta.... go back to stock if you don't like it...

Curious if I upgrade to 1.05.39, will it ruin the scenario I'm creating with internal data in 1.05.37?

Hi all,

I think that matrix installers changed a bit lately - they now read the serial number from registry I think (i.e. no need to re-enter serial number)...

Can you try running the Patch Installer as Administrator (i.e. to give it more privileges)?

Hi all,
ORIGINAL: Mehring

Thanks Apollo11, but I get the same window running as administrator. Any more ideas?

Can you try full deinstalling WitE (but before that, of course, backup your local savegame files) and then:

- install WitE original
- install latest patch
