Has anyone seen this happen?

SPWaW is a tactical squad-level World War II game on single platoon or up to an entire battalion through Europe and the Pacific (1939 to 1945).

Has anyone seen this happen?

Post by PerryC »

Here is the situation. Playing the US in the WWII campaign in North Africa. The second or third scenario involves an advance usually to/near Fondouk. I go to the deployment screen, my units are lined up on the right hand edge of the map. There are no flags delineating my deployment zone and when I actually go to deploy my troops I can't move them except to another hex that already has my troops in them. When I quit the deployment it turns out the opponents units are all lined up right in front of mine.

I count the number of times this has happened, but it doesn't happen every time either. Only once has my opponent been the Italians, every other time it has been the Germans.

Has anyone else seen this sort of thing?

That's a new one. Did you try the 'standard' fix of deleting your steel.prf file?

No, I haven't tried that one yet. Like I said it doesn't happen every time I try this. I have gone sarted the campaign maybe a couple of dozen or so times to find out, it only happens every third or fourth battle.

Not that it bothers me a whole lot, its almost free points. Mind you the Italians put up more of a fight ans almost secured my VH to grab the win.

Go ahead and give it a try...when the game restarts a new steel.prf file is created. The only affect you'll notice is that all the settings on the 'preferences' screen will revert to their default values. Also check all the folders for a file called 'holder.txt' and delete any that you find...these are left when the game installs and have been linked to some problems.

Also try posting this on the tech forum.
