Lost IJA Chinese Units

Post by Xargun »

In my current PBeM game I lost a small Chinese unit in the heavy fighting for Changsha - not a problem I paid the PPs to reconstitute the unit and it appeared back in the Arrival list but for Tokyo. I thought it may be a problem since it is a Chinese Restricted Unit, but thought I would wait until it appeared and see what happens. Well it appeared a turn ago in Tokyo, assigned to the Chinese Expitionary HQ - so now I have a rebuilt Chinese unit stuck in Japan unless I buy it out (which I did since it was only 12 PPs for the reconstituted unit). Shouldn't these units rebuilt in Shanghai or some other Chinese base and not in Tokyo ?

It works both ways. American units come back to San Francisco. Australian, to Sidney, Commonwealth to Mobassa, and Brits and Indian to Aden. Think about it. A totally destroyed units was not rebuilt on the front lines but back home. It makes sense.

Xargun, have you tried to fly it to China? It never worked in WitP but it may with AE.

The nice thing is that you have several permanently restricted colaborationist chinese units guarding the imperial palace at Tokyo. I think that one of the latest betas solved the relocation problem, but I guess that if you rebuilt the unit before applying the patch, the location is set to Tokyo and cannot be changed

As a rule think very hard on rebuilding permanent restricted units (LCU and groups) [R].
With latest betas, these units are either not available or if they are, arrive as temp restricted (R) instead IIRC.

Units rebuilt before this beta, retained their permanent status.

The whole idea of rebuilding of [R] units is so twisted that I shouldn't have tried.[:D]

I was able to buy it out cheaply due to its rebuilt size but I would think lost Chinese or even Kwangtung units would reappear in an appropriate area like China or Kwangtung. oh well not a problem as I'm sure it rarely happens - I was very surprised when the little unit was destroyed... I guess their leader wanted a banzai charge despite other orders for a normal attack.
