BUG: Sub After Action Report

Post by Mr.Frag »

During the display of any sub after action report, the top line of the report actually displays the result of the last air combat.

ie: Pilot x got kill # ...

Obviously a string space corruption or pointer ... somewhere

Either the air combat is not clearing or the sub report assumes it HAS been cleared ;)

Just to corroberrate this, I've seen this occasionally (in fact, I can provide the CombatSummary.Txt and the CombatReplay.Uvs file if anyone needs it).

Actually, the latest that I saw was a pilot bailing out and being rescued on the Sub Action Report.

Interestingly enough, I had bombed an enemy TF that same day, in the beach hex just east of Gili-Gili. There was also a sub in the hex, it took a shot a one of the damaged ships. But when seeing the rescued pilot message, I thot this might actually have been a "feature" with the sub picking up the downed pilot (which was actually a common mission for USN subs during WW2).

I can confirm I've seen it also. All the time, as a matter of factor. :) Yes, I have 2.20

I'd be glad to, how do we do screenshots to save to our HD and post here? :)

i've seen it. Havn't paid it much mind. The double click bug when attempting to access airfields or land units at a base is FAR more annoying

I've seen it too, and fairly recently (under 2.20). If I see it again, I'll make a screenshot. It's not a big deal, though the first time I saw it, I wondered if the sub's skipper was "bailing out" underwater.... <g>

Re: BUG: Sub After Action Report

Post by Mike Wood »

Hello...

This is NOT a bug. Pilot deaths and kill confirmations are reported, when they become known, which may not be during the air-to-air combat phase. The news or confirmation may occur later. There are also search pilots out there who sometimes crash or are shot down during other phases.

In the cited example, a kill confirmation happen to come in during the hour in which the sub attack occured and so it showed up on the after action report.

If the sub attack had not occured, the kill confirmation would have appeared on what ever the next after action report was.

Hope this helps...

Thanks Mike, makes sense the way you explain it.

It just looked a little strange to be seen there, looked out of place to say the least and only happens with the sub after action report and I have never seen it appear in ship combat after action reports when there is no sub action that turn.

I run with combat animations off, so I see all those lines scrolling as the action happens, and some lines are displayed after the air combat ends (your delayed reports).

This is with patch 2.20
