Strange Retreat from Enemy Surface Force Result

Post by Capt Cliff »

I am playing a solo game, both sides. An I have had a strange result from a retreat from surface force. I am playing the 12/8/41 scenario and I moved the PoW and Repulse to Batavia. I then moved it to Singkawang to challenge a INJ invasion force. But after numerous air attacks I decided to retreat back to Batavia. This screenshot shows my retreat path. The following turn screenshot is below ... the PoW and Repulse RETREATED from a surface force ... ok the commander is yellow but they move NE and not SW!!

TFs behave strangely under enemy controlled air threat (their paths seems to be quite random). Calculations probably took under consideration presence of friendly bases, and planes, so it was "safer" to go east.

You should probably change Threat Tolerance to avoid such strange events.

"Threat tolerance"?? I searched the manual and found no reference to threat tolerance. Do you mean the "retirement allowed or remain on station" switch"? Or the react number of hexes button?

The relevant TF behaviour is a combination of page 80 of the manual and item 14 of the readme to the first patch, v1.00.84 of september 2009.

Threat tolerance a group of buttons u can use to modify the risk level of the TF going near combat areas.

This button is the second button between your distination and your return to port.. This button will access your waypoints also.

After you enter the screen look to the lower left and study the options. At first common sense will dictate your decision process. Later experience will help you.
