getting experience points

Fans of the old Panzer General series rejoice for the release of Panzer Corps. Following in the footsteps of the popular SSI masterpiece and sharing with the General series the same level of engagement and strategic depth, Panzer Corps will keep an unmistakable "PG feeling" whilst improving and refining the gameplay and balance. Panzer Corps will feature 26 scenarios on 21 unique maps, covering most major battles of the European Theatre of World War II and including a few hypothetical 'what if' scenarios based on your actions. Now expanded with a full-war mega-campaign and the Afrika Corps and Allied Corps releases!

getting experience points

Having played Panzer Corps and its Grand Campaigns. It seems units get experience points more easily in the Grand Campaigns than in the original game. Is it true?

I think this is counterbalanced by how experience is capped to be lower in the Grand Campaigns, so that you're "stuck" with about 2.5 stars worth of exp instead of the original game letting you get to 5 stars. The alternative would have been seeing 5-star Panzer IIs or something halfway through Poland.

Caps are only in the DLC.

Experience suffers from diminishing returns.  That is, the amount of combat it takes to reach 400 exp to 500 exp is MUCH MUCH larger than the amount of combat required to get from 0 exp to 100 exp.

This way, newly purchased units, who always start at 0 experience in campaign play, have an easy time to 'catch up' to the experience of the rest of the core and the enemy as well.
