Our forces have made it out of the open hex and into a wooded hex. It dosen't look like heis pursueing my forces now. He never tried to bomb my LCUs here. These units are making their way to several different locations. He is still sweeping different bases. I'm wondering if things will slow down.

We put a TT into Kongo south of Java. I am directing all subs to cover her escape route. KB is moving towards her. They might join forces, I think it's a bad idea. Let the Kongo slow down the KB. Maybe I can get some shots off at his CVs. Nav search has been increased in the area.

My ASW TF smacks around a Jap sub multiple pentration hits and on fire. I don't think she has sunk yet but she will.

Christmas Is
A sub sinks a tanker. Our ASW TF actuall reacts drills the sub, it surfaces and is sunk by gunfire. A DD took a hit from the subs deck gun and is moderately damaged.

So, I need to find a way to defend Rangoon from the air. Our pilots in the area are mediocre. I should of moved the p38s here instead of Oz. I was hoping to get them to DEI. Right now I'm thinking that DEI is done. As Alfred mentioned I may leave the hurris and P40s for the Aussies. I need to findsome training sqds for the commonwealth units.

I really love this game. I'm having a hard time taking a break from it to play other games. If work would cooperate, I might be able to.

Koniu sent in a nav bombing raid escorted by 41 Zeros.  He lost 4 Bettys and 1 Zero to our 1 P40E.  I did something different here.  I set up my 38s at 30k and 40s at 20K.  Only 3 or so of my 38s got into the fight but my 40s got the bounce on the Zeros.

I have been busy for the last several weeks and haven't done much to tell you whats going on so lets start.

Japanese 14th Div is prepping for here.  He has constant recon, with sweeps and now a bombing mission.  I believe he will attempt an attack here.  Right now Port 1 at 69%, AF 3 at 66%, and Forts 2 at 53%.  I have 223 AV with 26,500 supply.  I am sending in an AA bn, CD unit, Cav bde, and an Air HQ.  I will also mine the port.  With the CD unit I will have 8 6 in guns present.

CR warned me about trying to hold this.  Now I believe that Koniu is going to slow to get here in time to stop me.  I am sending in 3 CD units, Tank bn, AA unit, Port SVC unit and the 40th ID.  P39s and 40Es are also on there way.

Sorry Graymane forgot about answering your question.  Things are going.  Everyday that passes brings me closer to the point I can stand and fight equally with Koniu.  He is getting closer to my MLRs.  So things will start to get interesting.  I am also starting to set my self up for future ops.  My hopes are to spread his forces out across the map.  I am trying to get troops, supplies and gas to the important places.  Man this is fun.

You hold Rangoon and he has the Shortlands? I am curious to see how you fare at Rangoon. I wanted to try and hold it also, but never organized well enough. I am in no position to advise per se but I found my lack of engineers and triple A at bases destined to be hit hard a signifigent short coming in my war. I also used up most of my mines in the wrong places, the exception being the Sumatra Java straights. I got 5 DDs + there. I hope they were mine sweeping.[:D]

A determined IJ can take Ragoon because the AFB just does not have the forces. However, IMHO a determined defense can force the IJ to change plans and divert forces planned for other areas. This opens opportunites for Naval raids, submarine attacks, air attacks etc. Having some resistance at Ragoon also gave me the time to project air power. The clear hexes to Mandalay offered lots of ground bombing opportunites. It was a very frustrating experience for the IJ [;)]

I think the diplomatic back channels (ala email) suggests there a second effect .. the IJ focused on R&D and Aircraft replacement the extra drain on TO&E put some pressure on economic decisions. Not a big deal but interms of the context of making the IJ uncomfortable and setting the seeds of doubt as far as economic allocation . simply taking 2 Armoured units to 50% using ground bombing put a real question on economic decisions.

One other thing happened was the loss of bombers that combined with this pressure is making the IJ uncomfortable. Although they are kicking my butt.

Also as far as Burma, I have taken a strategic course to completly abandon Northern Burma until 1943 and then suddenly spring forward in force against trapped IJ units in 3 pinchers. A combined front coordinated attack rather than resist in '42 to only lose units. Just my sophmoric opinion.

Crackaces, thats my plans.  I only want to delay or draw in more troops here.  It will be a fighting withdraw.  I am building up my bases in northern Burm and southern India.  When he hits the open hexs I will pound him from the air.
 
Op order has went out for Operation Sidetrack.  More details later on this operation.

He swepped multiple times this turn.  Then he comes in with bombers.  My fighters are caught up in a training mission.  They do well againist his Zero escorts damage 5 Bettys and shoot 2 of them down.

Intel shows the 2 SNLF (sp) is prepping for here.  One of the CD units will be withdrawn in 7 days.  I am looking at exchanging the P40Bs for P39s and maybe bringing up a Inf Bn.
 
In the air we exchange 1 to 1.  I am happy with this.
 
OP Order
Tasked units will deploy to Tabiteuea Island.  (Which is still in Allied hands)  They will build Ports and AFs first.  Mission is to disrupt the Japanese time table and future operations, by causing to deploy forces to this AO.
 
If I get lucky and keep this island, I will be happy, but this operation is to side track Koniu from his future operations.  He only has a little more than a month to go before his amphib bonus runs out.  If I can delay landings at PM or anywhere else the mission will be a success.  I will move in a Port SVC Det first then USN BF with AA unit, Sea Bees, and a Marine CD unit.  Carriers will be used to provide fighter cover.  Marine fighters will be added to the carriers.  2 CV TFs of 2 carriers each will attend this operation.  I will have a small SAG along incase some gun power is needed.  Later I will bring in an IR and another AA unit.  I also want to drop troops on another island to build up supporting bases.  I will use APDs, xAPs and xAKs; yes I know about the unloading times.  But this is what I have close by.
 
Situation:
Intel shows that Tarawa has not been built up.  Shows no AF is present.  Nauru Island is the closest AF, which is 12 hexs away,  I don't think any of his LBA fighters can reach Tabiteuea.  I want to know where the KB and MKB are when I go in.  I suspect the MKB will be at Wake.  KB will be in the DEIs or around Rabaul.
 
Ok guys tell me what  you think.  Where am I wrong besides the xAPs and xAKs.
