1st question/resolved-re-read manual

Post by budd »

Just bought the game, and pushing counters around trying to learn. I played Djebel El Guessa and my question is about the self propelled arty, i couldn't get it to fire at all in any phase and it never seemed to fire in support of anything and a couple of times their were enemy units right next to it and they didn't come up as an option in the potential target box. so what good are they? They weren't disrupted, in full supply and couldn't get them to fire at any range, I must be dong something wrong.
as a side note i'm really liking the game, thx for the feedback on the game that pushed me over the top. It will take a little time to get best practices down but you certainly can jump in and push counters right away. I loaded jmass's graphics mod with JSME which was easy as pie, we just need someone to do new counters.

Make sure that your self-propelled arty is set to the posture of "emplaced" or they cannot fire.  Also, make sure that your SP units have contact with the same HQ as your assaulting units so that they can support the assault.

Might sound obvious but you'd also want to check that they are in range - there's a report for this linked to '0'. Also if there's an enemy unit adjacent the arty can't fire, even in self defence.
