Helpcat! a plea

Post by hellcat »

ok so I'm just about ready to get back into the fray, BUT...

I can't get my version of spwaw up and running... don't know why as it worked fine back last year...

I don't have the luxury of a full version so am doing the overlay install from 5.0

These are the files I have, can someone please, please enlighten me as to the order required as my attempts so far have failed...

I have managed to get it all the way to 7.0 but the 7.1 upgrade doesn't seem to take hold as when I enter the game the screen says it's still 7.0... even more disturbing is an error message saying something like 'have you failed to copy the data files???'

eek

my files (in no particular order) are as follows:-

SPWAW-V501-V52-UPDATE.EXE
SPWAW-V50-INTERNET.EXE
SPWAW-V50-V501-UPGRADE.EXE
SPWAW-V61-UPDATE.EXE
SPWAWV61-V70-INTERNETUPGRADE.EXE
SPWAWV7-1UPDATE

help please

LMAO!!!! ROFLMAO!!!!

hellcat got hit with it!! LOL!

Das Cat, take out the space between Matrix and Games in the 7.1 patch. It is creating a 7.1 folder. There should be no space there, and it will install into the correct folder.

Lol! I think it got everyone now!

ok now for the next phase of the problem...

the order of the install files...

SPWAW-V50-INTERNET.EXE (seems to be the logical first choice...) but it asks me to insert disk 2 for some other file (which I don't seem to have) any ideas? This happens towards the very end of what is a long install and my only option is to abort the install (which is the likely culprit for where those missing data files are)...

any ideas?

He might know this one...or have access to those who do.

Hellcat...did you perform a "search" of the forum to see if it pulls up any prior threads about this?

yeah orz am going to do that now... the install on SPWAW-V50-INTERNET.EXE seems about 90-95% complete and during the install of .dat files asks me for disk 2 (?) or the file SPWAW-V50-INTERNET2? - Which I don't have... leaving the only option for me to abort install which must be where my missing DAT files go awol...

if anyone knows of a place I can find all the SPWAW upgrade files (there's a chance I'm missing just one somehow...)

agreed about the Big G, he'll know...

ok I'm into 7.1 now... final question do I need to put the OObs into it from the 7.1 ooB patch or are they part of the 7.1 upgrade... I seem to recall I needed to replace those OObs but that was sometime ago now...

Sorry I must have missed this thread, Hellcat if you ever receive the reponse of "please enter disk two", this only means one thing the download is corrupted and incomplete. If you still need the files I have very good download site to get all the old patches. One file I see you didn't mention that you had was the updated stereo files. All the sounds were redone in true stereo format after ver 5.3 but only got incoperated into full installs of 6.1 or later. Here is the link to retrieve them it's a 194mb zipped that contains an executable file that replace all the older sounds. Updated SPWAW stereo sounds

thanks gmenfan! I should be getting a full version of 7.1 in the near now... I seem to be up to 7.1 now although I fear I may still have missing .dat files

what's the link to the site that has all the downloads...?

I'm stuck with a 56k line right now but someone is nicely scooping the big version down their broadband and sending to me...

ftp.edome.net this is the same directory were the stereo sounds are retrieved, it is one of the most reliables sites around.

Speaking of sounds, H2H has really great sound. I just started playing H2H and I love being fired on by a new weapon to see what will happen.:)
